(nee PREGL)

Our dear Juliana was called home to her heavenly Father on March 5, 2021, at the age of 97, to be reunited with the love of her life Noël.
She will be remembered by her daughters, Franciska (Zlata, Myke, Katy), Silva (Bruno, Bogolau), stepdaughter Aline (Don, Jean-Louis), devoted stepson Marcel (Carole, André), goddaughter Anita Cic, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juliana arrived in Canada over 65 years ago from Maribor, Slovenia, learned English on the job, and worked very hard to make a comfortable life for herself and her family. She met and married Noël in 1979 and together this beautiful couple enjoyed travelling throughout Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Europe, gardening, making and sharing wonderful meals with family and friends, Juliana's signature strudel that she would make for the Folklorama Slovenian Pavilion, and partaking in a glass of wine. She was a fun-loving, warm, generous and faith-filled woman.
Thank you to the dedicated staff, spiritual care team and volunteers at Riverview Health Centre where Juliana called home for six years, and her wonderful companion Cindy.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be to the Alzheimer/Dementia Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choosing in memory of Juliana.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. You are invited to join us virtually by accessing the Livestream link at
Whether you knew her for years or someone she just met, Juliana would greet everyone with a warm smile, hugs and kisses, and that is her legacy - our Miss Congeniality.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I have been blessed to have met Juliana and her wonderful family Marcel and Carole. A special thank you for trusting in my care. We spent time taking walks, reading and window shopping at the gift shop, but we made many stops along the way for her to smile and greet everyone with a hello. She was the sweetest lady, and will be sadly missed, but always have a special place in my heart. She is with her loved ones, and that is comforting. Bless you my dear friend xox - Posted by: Cindy Cyr (Companion and Friend) on: Mar 14, 2021

  • I met Juliana at her Riverview residence for the first time. My husband Michael was happy to introduce me to her. She greeted me with a warm and genuine smile that I'll never forget. She was so glad that we visited her and she even kissed me. What a beautiful soul. She will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Barbara Long (married to grandson) on: Mar 13, 2021

  • Aunt Juliana was a wonderful woman. Full of good cheer and I was one of many who enjoyed her world famous strudel. She and uncle Noel always made us feel welcome when we went to Twin Beach to spend time with them. On one or two occasions we drink what aunt Julie dubbed "nice tea" iced tea with vodka or rum. We had a grand time those afternoons in the yard of their cabin. Lots of laughter and joy. Rest easy aunty. You are now with your beloved Noel. - Posted by: Claire Dandonneau (niece) on: Mar 13, 2021
