ANNIE (ANNE) DORA OBEREK
(nee OLEKSUK)
December 25, 1931- March 4, 2021
She will be greatly missed by her children, Barbara (Tracy), Wendy (Doug), Karen (Kenny) and Doug; grandchildren, Amanda (Daniel), Dallas (Kurtis), Riley and Raelene; great-grandson Everett; sister Helen, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She laid to rest her husband of 63 years, Joseph, in 2016. Anne was also predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Antonina, and siblings, Bernice, Eddie, Josie, Emily, Mary, Aggie and Vicki.
Anne was born in Fannystelle, MB and lived an active life in Winnipeg to her last day. Upon retirement from Canada Post in 1987, she enjoyed many years of travel, bowling, bingo, crafts, the casino, watching curling and cheering for the Jets. Above all, Anne's true life passion was cooking for all her visitors. Her special dishes highlighted a home filled with warm hospitality, lively conversation, card games and always laughter. Anne had the most positive soul and was always smiling. Her laugh and sense of humour were infectious and she always made time to speak with anyone she met. She will be missed by many.
A special thank-you from the family goes to her wonderful friend Tannena - you were more than a "buddy"....you truly were her angel; to Pam - for your Saturday outings; and to Alice - for being her TV sports companion. Thank you to everyone who reached out to her during this time of lockdown - your calls were a highlight of her day. Thanks also to the paramedics and ER staff at Grace Hospital.
Cremation has taken place but due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of Anne's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Hospital or a charity of your choice.

To Ann's Family and Tannena, We are so very sorry to hear of Ann's passing. As we did have a "shirt tail" family connection to Ann, we always enjoyed catching up with her. If we or her hadn't seen each other for a bit, a phone call was always made to make sure everyone was doing well. We will miss her. Vichnaya Pamyat. Our deepest condolences to the family on the loss of Anne. Your mom was one the most sincere, caring people I have ever known. There isn’t one time from all the family gatherings over the years that I ever not remember having a conversation with your Mom. On behalf of the Ted Witoski family our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I’m sure they are all up in heaven chattering away!! - Posted by: Chris Witoski (Extended family) on: Mar 13, 2021
