KENNETH NORMAN GREENHALGH
January 28, 1932 - March 14, 2021

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Greenhalgh on March 14, 2021, at the age of 89.
Ken is survived by his long-time life partner and love of his life Doris (Dodi); his sister Joan; and family members, Les and Wilma (Shelley and Dan), Dale (Cassie, Jacky, and Sophia), Beth, Scott (Lisa, Brianna and Jessica) and Karin (Doug). Ken was predeceased by his parents, Ethel and Earnest; his stepsiblings, Ronald and Thelma; and family member Arthur.
Ken was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. Ken was an avid outdoorsman, spending his free time fishing, hunting, camping, boating and taking long drives through the country. He especially loved his trips to Vancouver Island. When he could not spend his time outdoors, he found other ways to enjoy his love of animals - through his macaws, Tweetie and BJ, his visits to local pet stores, and through his love of nature documentaries. Ken worked on facility maintenance for the Elmwood Kildonan YM-YWCA for 28 years and when he retired in 1993, the boiler room was renamed "Ken's Den" in his honour. Ken lived his life in his own way and on his own terms; he was always there to help his family, friends, and neighbours when called upon. We will miss him dearly.
Special thanks to the staff at Kildonan Long Term Care Home who provided such warm and loving care to Ken during this difficult time. Our hearts rest more easily knowing that you were there for him when we could not always be.
As per Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place. A small Celebration of Life for close family and friends will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre or Fort Whyte Alive would be appreciated.

  • My condolences to his loved ones. I never met him but his sister Joan is my Grandma. I have some very old pictures of Joan and Ken when they were very little, I'd be happy to share with his family if they are interested. - Posted by: Shannon Foidart (nee Cudmore) (Great niece ) on: Mar 21, 2021
