He leaves to mourn two daughters, Monique (Delay), Gabrielle (Roland) Marion; his grandchildren, Alain (Melissa) Delay, Chantale (Lionel) Demers, Natalie and Valérie Marion; and four great-grandchildren, Geneviève, Alexandre, Kathryn and Félix Demers; his sister Claire Michalik; one brother-in-law Jules (Rae) Sicotte, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Aline; his parents, Ambroise and Rose (née Hébert); his sister Gabrielle, his brother Yves (Doreen) and Luc.
Born in St. Pierre-Jolys on September 12, 1920, Victor was the eldest of five children. On September 13, 1947, Victor married the love of his life, Aline (Sicotte.) They were blessed with a family and a beautiful circle of genuine friends. With his wife they shared a love of gardening, reaping bountiful harvests. They were especially proud of their tomatoes.
Victor owned a mink farm for 27 years. Due to circumstantial events, he left ranching and became an insurance agent for five years. Victor generously served in his town and parish community as a School trustee for the Red River School Division. He became a town counsellor and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1972 Dad and Mom left their rural setting to establish new roots in St. Boniface. After working for 14 years in the Housekeeping Department at St. Boniface General Hospital he happily retired.
Dad was a kind-hearted, loving man who worked very hard for the well-being of his family. By nature, he was a perceiver who possessed sound judgment. His words resonated long after they were spoken. Dad had an exceptional faith in God and was a deeply prayerful man. He always wanted to adhere to God's will. The virtues of his character were interwoven and profoundly expressed throughout the tapestry of his life. He reflected compassion, faithfulness, generosity, hospitality, integrity and humility. His greatest desire was to leave a lasting spiritual legacy to his children. We are forever grateful for his enduring witness of faith throughout the many challenges, joys and trials of his life. He will live forever in our hearts!
The family would like to thank Dr. Prénovault and all the devoted staff at Actionmarguerite St. Vital (previously known as Foyer Valade) for their caring and compassionate hearts. They made "a home within a home" for Dad.
In view of the pandemic restrictions, the Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated privately with immediate family on Saturday, March 20 at Saint-Martyrs-Canadiens parish. Interment will be at the St. Pierre-Jolys Cemetery family plot at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be forwarded to Flavie-Laurent Centre, 450 Provencher Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2J 0B9.
Funeral arrangements are with Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg.
Blessed Are They!
Blessed are they who understand my
faltering steps and shaky hands.
Blessed are they who know my ears today
must strain to catch the things they say.
Blessed are they who seem to know that
my eyes are dim and wits are low.
Blessed are they who look away when
I spill the coffee at my table.
Blessed are they when with a cheery smile,
take time to chat for awhile.
Blessed are they who know the ways to
bring back memories.
Blessed are they who make it known
that I'am loved, respected and not
alone just like you!
