RITA ELIZABETH CHERLET
(nee POITRAS)

Peacefully, following some months in palliative care, on Monday, March 15, 2021, at Grace Hospice, it is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Elizabeth Cherlet at the age of 92.
Rita will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family. Left to mourn her passing, are her children, Gary, Stephen (Alison), Jeffrey (Tammy); grandchildren Katie, Roni, Dillon, Val and Calvin.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerry (Gerard) Cherlet.
Rita was a loving mother and grandmother. After her husband Gerry passed away in 1984, she and her sister Annette spent a lot of time together visiting and helping immediate and extended family around Winnipeg and across the country.
A service will be held, at a date to be determined, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will be private.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and health care workers at Riverview Palliative Care Centre and Grace Hospice, where she spent her last weeks in comfort and at peace.
Donations may be made to Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation in Rita Cherlet's memory.

  • My deepest sympathies to Rita's family. She was my loyalest client I ever had from 1979 to 2007. She was a strong character with a great sense of humor. Always poised & had a classy, dignified way as well as unpretentious & true blue. Thank you Rita. I was privileged to serve as your stylist. Loved your stories & you💖 - Posted by: Madlene Roulette (Long time former hairdresser) on: Mar 25, 2021

  • Sincere condolences to all of Rita’s family. A person does not have to spend a lot of time with someone for them to create a lasting heartfelt impression. Such as Rita did for me. Blessings! - Posted by: Lucille Ledoyen (Daughter of Marcella Cherlet-Ledoyen) on: Mar 21, 2021

  • Gary, Stephen and Jeffrey, and families, I am so sorry to hear this. Your mom was the quintessential lady. A beautiful lady inside and out. I have thought of her often since we spoke a year ago. My sincere condolences and love to all of you. Cecille - Posted by: Cecille Thomas Moore (Ledoyen) (niece) on: Mar 20, 2021
