BERNICE CONSTANCE GERTRUDE MILNE
(nee DITCHFIELD)
April 4, 1926 - March 19, 2021
She was predeceased by her parents, Irene and Stanley Ditchfield, sisters, Viola and Darlene, and her great-grandson Dylan Budz.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sherry (Cecil) Dusek, Gary (Rowan) Milne and Gail (Chris) Town; grandchildren, Clanci (Wayne) Budz, Lyndsey (Greg) Carroll, Steven (Sarah) Town, Bryan (Sydney) Town and Lee (Ashley) Milne. She will be dearly missed by her great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Emma, Stella, Sawyer, Scarlett, Avery and Evan.
Bernice was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. She completed her grade 9 education and then found employment to help support her family financially. She was married October 4, 1949 and went on to have three children. Bernice loved her children and loved family gatherings. Over the years she spent her free time sewing, knitting, baking, reading, gardening and playing bridge, but her greatest passion was travelling. She took many trips with various family members travelling across Canada. Bernice enjoyed watching professional sports, especially her Toronto Blue Jays. However, her greatest joy came from watching her children and later her grandchildren participate in their favourite sports.
For many years, Bernice was an active member of Riverview United Church in Winnipeg. After selling her home in Winnipeg, Bernice moved to Kamloops, BC where she lived with her youngest daughter's family for 15 years. These were happy years for Bernice as she travelled back and forth to Winnipeg to visit her other children and their families. In her later years, Bernice moved into an assisted living centre in downtown Kamloops where she received excellent care. She loved her apartment and her beautiful view of the mountains.
We wish to thank all of her caregivers at Bedford Manor and the wonderful medical staff at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
Cremation has taken place, according to Bernice's wishes. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, no service will be held at this time.
Donations in her honour may be made to The Salvation Army or a charity of your own choosing.

Bernice was a special person in my life. She was always positive and supportive and she helped me when my daughter was small with child care. She was always welcoming in her home and I enjoyed visiting with her and your family. I have tried to call for Gail and Sherry but the numbers I have are out of service. I would love to connect and have left my contact information with this site. I am sending love and support to each of you. Hugs, Dianne Perry - Posted by: Dianne Perry (Cousin) on: Apr 02, 2021

My family’s deepest condolences to the Milne family upon hearing this sad news. My sister (Karen) and I were the little blond neighbours the next street over on Bartlet Ave (just down the back lane in the Riverview area) and spent much time at the Milne house as youngsters with our friend, Gail. We have very fond memories of your lovely mom, and always felt welcome in your home. Sending you all our heartfelt thoughts at this difficult time. - Posted by: Jocelyn Thorvaldson (Friend/former neighbour) on: Mar 28, 2021

Hey Garzo, sorry for your loss, yet sounds like mom had a good run. I still recall your mom being shocked that you and I were roomies. "The little kid down the backlane" that was me. Condolences to all. Huder. George Hudon. - Posted by: George Hudon (Gary's pal) on: Mar 27, 2021
