AGNES BARYSKI

"A time to be born and a time to die...."

I was born December 9, 1948 in Winnipeg and passed on March 22, 2021, with my family and best friend Christine by my side.
I was raised in Winnipeg's North End by loving parents, with my brother and a large extended family. The majority of my working life (39 years) was spent at Sterling (Cloak) Stall and Bachman Property Management where I made many lifelong friends: Joyce, Deby and Lorraine to name a few.
Travel was one of the greatest pleasures of my life. Many trips to BC and the UK, visiting Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong and China. Trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, California, shopping trips to Grand Forks and a pig roast in Detroit Lakes. In later years an Alaska cruise and two cruises up the east coast.
I was predeceased by my parents, Mary (Mazur) 1988 and Joe (1999). Surviving me is my brother Allan (Kathy), niece Karaleen (Cory), nephew Bill (Shelley) and cherished great-nieces, Alexis and Paige; Lil and Irene and many other cousins with special mention to Rose (D), Gordon, Evelyn, Dave, Bruce, Bob, Connie and godson Leon and Marci who were always there for me. I trust my family knew how much I loved them all.
God blessed me with a group of friends, Christine, Cathy, Shirley (D), Joan, Linda, Lynda, Kathy, Karen, Mary, Heather and Louise, who were always there for me in good times and bad, laughter and tears (much more laughter than tears). I hope you know what your friendship meant to me. Thank you for your 50 + years.
Thanks to Dr. T. Babick and the doctors and staff at Seven Oaks dialysis for their care and concern.
The family would like to thank the St. Boniface ICU doctors and nurses for their compassion and care of Agnes and for allowing the family to be with her at the end.
There will be an interment at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Agnes' name to Canadian Institute for the Blind or CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Loving and kind in all her ways. Righteous and joyful to the end of her days. Sincere and true in her heart and mind. Beautiful memories she left behind. Cousin Joyce and Family. - Posted by: Joyce Dwornick (cousin) on: Mar 31, 2021

  • I met Agnes through one of my best friends Cathy. Cathy introduced me into a great group of friends who have been together for over 50 years. Agnes loved to travel. And always made sure that her accessories matched her outfits. She would always be there to listen and give advice. She loved her hamburger steak at the Thunderbird restaurant on McPhillips. Condolences to Allan and family. Also to her close group of girls of which I am privileged to be part of. Soar with angels. Love and will miss you. Heather Wenzel. - Posted by: Heather Wenzel (Close friend) on: Mar 29, 2021

  • Agnes and I met in Junior High, at Sisler - we were sometimes in the same home room or shared classes. At the time, my home was on Redwood, across from Lord Nelson. As an adult, Agnes continued to reside in the family home on Pritchard Avenue. Years later, I purchased a home in the same block, but on Manitoba Avenue. We connected once again, this time as neighbours. When my office was relocated off Broadway, Agnes, Christine and I often found ourselves sharing the same #33 or #36 bus rides together down McPhillips. What good times we had as old school chums and faithful North Enders, sharing tips on where to shop, get alterations done, and live life to the fullest! Agnes was a constant contributor!!! Those were always friendly bus rides home, which always ended too quickly, in our estimation. Agnes was always friendly and personable - we often continued our conversations when we got off at the same bus stop. I miss those times. Allan, you have lost a good sister. I know how much she supported you and your family over the years. You were often the topic of conversation. She loved her niece and nephew dearly. My condolences to the family and especially to the dear friends Agnes left behind. You ladies were, indeed, the biggest part of her life. Three cheers to Agnes! May she find a good life in the great beyond! - Posted by: Linda Henderson (School mate and adult friend) on: Mar 28, 2021

  • I had the privilege of knowing Agnes as first a co-worker which turned into a lifelong friendship. We enjoyed our many outings to Velvet Glove after work with her other best sister friend Lorraine. Rest in peace Agnes and will meet up for drinks again. - Posted by: Deby Morningstar (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2021

  • My condolences to the family. I have lots and lots of stories, now memories of my best friend. I will share one story. We took a drive to Gull Lake and Ag would tell me how her parents would have a picnic outside the gates of her grandparents cemetery. It was a natural event. Well I guarantee I will not picnic outside the gates of Glen Eden but will drive down River Road and stop at the spots you and I took my mom. Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Cathy Long (Friend) on: Mar 27, 2021
