EVELYN ANDERSON
(nee SMITH)

Peacefully, with family by her side, Evelyn Anderson (nee Smith) passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on March 12, 2021, at the age of 79.
She was predeceased by her mother Margret Smith, father Thomas Smith, sister Isabel Taylor, sister Elinor Haines, brother James Smith, nieces, Christine Taylor and Catherine Haines.
Evelyn will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Arne Anderson of Rosser, MB, her sons, Stuart Whitney (Nicole) of Winnipeg and James Whitney of Boston, grandsons, Cameron Whitney and Lochlin Whitney of Winnipeg and Sean Whitney of Boston, numerous nieces and nephews of the Smith, Hurley, Taylor, Haines families.
Evelyn was a strong, caring woman that had a passion for flowers. She owned two flower shops in St James: Scottish Heather and Gretna Green Flowers. She continued to work and volunteer for many years after a tragic farm accident that took her leg. Evelyn loved to work in the yard even from her wheelchair. She loved her grandchildren and would often spend hours telling stories and giving advice. Her strength and willingness to help others will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a service held once the government's restrictions on honouring a loved one's life are lifted.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I will greatly miss my auntie Ev. She was one of the remaining family and friend that knew me as a child. She was also the last person to have memories of my mom as a young person. These memories she so generously shared with me over the years. I knew her as a generous and passionate loving person who fiercely loved her sons and grandsons. She also had a great admiration and respect for her husband Arnie. My visits to their home over the years I will greatly cherish and miss. She is truly an inspiration to fight for life under incredible circumstance and will remember her until we will surely meet again. I know she is whole again and rejoicing with her heavenly family. Thank you, thank you for being in my life. God Bless Love Debbie - Posted by: Deborah M Tisdale (niece) on: Mar 30, 2021
