It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marc Lafreniere on Monday, March 22, 2021.
Marc will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Tatyana Eva, sisters, Lorraine (Lee), Yvette (Earl), and brother-in-law Gordon. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. He will be reuniting with his mother Therese, father Albert, and sister Dianne.
Born January 2, 1951 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Marc grew up in St. Vital and was a lover of motorcycles and music from a young age. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved a good party. Throughout his life Marc became an incredibly skilled carpenter and took great pride in his trade. Anything you needed, Marc had you covered. He was a true craftsman.
In the summer Marc enjoyed working on his golf game. He always felt at ease while golfing and sun or cloud, you could expect to see him on the green. In the winter you could find him on the other end of a pool cue at various establishments around town. Either way, Marc's favourite activities involved spending time with friends. He also loved getting together for family dinners and had a jovial sense of humour. His quick wit, laughter and silly sound effects will be greatly missed around the dinner table.
Marc always had a soft and protective spot in his heart for his mother Terry. He is being laid to rest beside her at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Due to current social restrictions, a private gathering will be held on April 1 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment. A Celebration of Life will be held outdoors later this summer.

Cheers to you Dad, we'll miss ya.

  • Saddened by this news. Marc and I grew up together in St. Vital and were best friends as well as roommates at various times of our younger lives. He got me hooked on a lot of great music and was influential in the purchase of my first good stereo system. Rest in peace my friend! - Posted by: Glenn Bigourdin (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2021

  • Spent many times with Marc and he did work on our place in Clandeboye on Medicine Creek. We would work all day and then do dinner and he would stay over and go at again the next day. My wife Lucille Mclaughlin came back after her work day and review our work. The nature of some work like hanging doors is an art more than a skill and he got it right. He and his brother-in-law came and replaced our heavy eight foot patio door with new one. I remember driving in with our pick up 4x4 to his ground floor apt in St. Vital and gather up tools he needed to augment ours to do the work. Bit hard to bicycle out to the country toting compound mitre saw, etc and we would enjoy our travel there and back along with getting the projects done. We golfed at Windsor with Tim Coutts and the rest of their St. Vital crew and often go for a beer and some pool at Travel Lodge tavern. Marc was good company and a skilled craftsman and shall be missed by us. We moved out to White Rock and on trips back to Winnipeg tried to connect but he had moved and I was unable to connect on our last trip which I regret although I did try a few times to find him while there. He had the unfortunate problem of injuries that most of us can relate to but also had some strange ailments that challenged his Doctors. Even he endured tough times he kept a sense of humour. Rest in peace old friend and you shall remain in my memories in the variety of special times shared together. May those that also knew him and shared times together remember a friend now gone. Be safe, stay healthy and remain kind every day and enjoy those of your family and friends left still kicking and disturbing others as we remember Marc as a good man who we loved while here! - Posted by: Donald Finnbogason (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2021
