ANNETTE LEONA MCKINNON
(nee ZASTRE)
Annette is survived by Bob, her loving husband of 53 years; son Shawn (Kerri) McKinnon; daughter Shannon (Harold) Griffin; brothers, Edward (Francine) Zastre, Marcel (Alvina) Zastre, Vern Zastre; sister Denise (Rick) Treyturik; mother-in-law Florence McKinnon; sister-in-law Blanche Zastre, Donna Zastre and Florence Zastre; grandchildren, Caeden and Tanehya McKinnon, and Makenna and Marleigh Rentz; numerous nephew and nieces; and countless friends.
She was predeceased by parents, Joe and Lina Zastre; son Richard McKinnon; granddaughter Emma Rentz; siblings, Verna Fenelon, Maurice Zastre, Lucille Zastre, Donald Zastre, Arletta Zastre, Paul Zastre, David Zastre, Raymond Zastre; brother-in-law Dave McKinnon; and nephew Tyler Zastre.
Bob and Annette moved from Winnipeg in 1974 and settled in Leduc. They raised their family there, then moved to the shores of Pigeon Lake in 1999. If you didn't see Annette working in and around the house, then you probably saw her on the road driving between Beaumont, Leduc and home, with her music blasting away.
Annette's love was for her family, but her greatest pleasure was her grandkids. She was so very proud of them. She loved watching them follow their passions and being involved in their lives in each and every way.
She enjoyed decades of morning chats with her coffee ladies, and afternoon bowling with the Nameless team. Hosting dinners and attending events with friends and family was something she always looked forward to. And you could be sure to have the best conversation with her, as she was an amazing listener who offered great, yet sometimes unexpected, advice.
She will be missed by many.
To the doctors and nurses and the Cross Cancer Institute: thank you for your care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Little Warriors in Edmonton.
