LYDIA GUDZ
January 26, 1923 - March 29, 2021
She is survived by Henry Gudz, her husband of 78 years; her son Howard (Marilyn); granddaughters, Nadine (Dave and great-granddaughter Mae), Cheryl (Marina), Jackie (Matthew) and Krissy (Jessie); daughter-in-law Delma, family and friends. She was predeceased by her first son Don, great-granddaughter Evelyne, and sister Emma Hilderman.
Lydia was the first born child of David and Amalia Quindt. She was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was very active in her church and community, was an avid reader, walker, volunteer and participant in North End swim programs. One of her favourite things to do was play cards and snack, ideally at a beach destination or Dorothy Lake. One of the family's favourite things to do was eat her Butterball chicken soup and German bierocks.
Lydia always lived in the North End, over 60 years on Bannerman Avenue, then on to River Ridge where she kept busy with new activities and friends.
The family would like to especially thank nurse Kim of River Ridge and Dr. Friesen of HSC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Luther Home, a care facility of Christ Lutheran Church of which Lydia was a member.
Details on a service will be shared at a later time.

My deepest condolences go out to Jackelyne on the untimely passing of Mrs. Gudz. I was an usher at my former respite worker's wedding 23 years ago at Christ Lutheran Church and later attended the school where Mr. Burdy was principal. My deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of dear Lydia. I just found out now. She used to live here at River Ridge 1 where I work and her and I had this special bond. I was sad to see her move out of River Ridge 1 but happy she was going to to be close by at River Ridge 2. We had many laughs, good times dancing in the dining room or outside and some great talks. She will be missed by many who knew and loved her, as I did. My heart is broken. Rest easy sweet Lydia. Until we see each other again, God Bless you. - Renee - Posted by: Renee Kelly (She used to live at River Ridge 1 where I work) on: Apr 14, 2021

Sincere condolences on behalf of the Thiessen family who were friends of Henry and Lydia. We were provided with wonderful growing up experiences in an ideal neighbourhood on Bannerman Ave. with parents such as Henry and Lydia. - Posted by: Lana Thiessen-Storey (former neighbour on Bannerman Ave.) on: Apr 04, 2021

We are so sorry to hear about Lydia's passing. We grew up together, had family Christmas's together and went to church together. Although our families intertwined we did lose touch after our Church dissolved. I was reconnected through volunteering at River Ridge and it was so wonderful to have daily chats with Lydia and Henry. I still called them Mr. and Mrs Gudz. I have not been able to see them due to Covid-19 and I was saddened to hear about her passing. May you know that others cared about her and our family sends our condolences to all of you at this very sad time. We haven"t seen Auntie Lydia in years but she was still the fun loving person we knew when our families got together. Uncle Henry keep going and keep the Gudz longevity going.
