ROBERT FREEMAN FULTHORPE
April 13, 1955 - March 28, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Fulthorpe.
Rob is survived by his wife, Donna Marie, mother, Margaret Fulthorpe, Jim and Marian Hamilton, three children, Christine, Robert (Jaimie), Stewart (Kelsey), granddaughter, Kloey, as well as two grandchildren soon to be joining the family.
Rob grew up as a Winnipeg boy in Charleswood with his brother, Joe (Anna) Fulthorpe, and sister, Leslie (Vaughan) Alexander, Alana, Steven (Courtney), Braden and extended family including many close cousins. Rob spent his youth at Malachi, ON where he was devoted to fishing, and the family cottage.
After graduating from University of Manitoba, Rob moved to Vancouver in 1980. He began his career with Ford Credit later transitioning to Scotiabank where he was a proud employee of 30 years working as a Branch Manager in Victoria, Smithers, and Vernon. Gregarious and dedicated, he effortlessly forged meaningful relationships with his customers and employees. Rob was a generous mentor to his staff, and developed lasting friendships with many of his peers.
After retiring in 2015, Rob and Donna were committed to their love of the outdoors and camping. They enjoyed time together at Mabel Lake, Hay River, and their favourite spot, Trout Lake. Rob and Donna spent recent winters away with their good friends in Mexico. Rob enjoyed learning and practicing Spanish. He loved to play crib, passing his expertise onto his daughter Christine who, thankfully, learned how to play like her Daddy.
Rob coached his sons in minor hockey and was a most dedicated Winnipeg Jets fan. He enjoyed playing with the Vernon Moonshiners for several years, he was an avid golfer, a skilled fisherman and a member of the Smithers Kinsmen Club.
Rob will be missed dearly and remembered as a caring son, brother, a loving father, grandfather, dear friend, and a devoted husband. We will always remember his sparkling blue eyes, his gentle and kind manner, how he always put others before himself, and his loving heart.
A private funeral will be held at a later date.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home,

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My condolences to Donna and the family. Rob and I worked together at Ford Credit in Vancouver in 1983, and he was always a great guy to be around. My favourite memory has to be the fly-fishing lessons he had a small group of us enrolled in, and which obviously sunk in more deeply with Rob than with the rest of us. You've left us far too soon. - Posted by: Larry McGaw (Former Co-worker) on: Apr 03, 2021

  • We would always see Rob during his visits to Malachi. Always laughing! Our condolences to his family. He will be missed. Ryland family - Posted by: Colleen Ryland (Acquaintance ) on: Apr 03, 2021
