HAZEL ETHEL LACOFF
Hazel was born on April 7, 1940 in Victoria, British Columbia to Hazel C. and George W. Walker. In December of 1979, she married Harold Lacoff whom she spent the rest of her days beside. Hazel will forever be remembered by her husband; her children, Richard (Deborah), Larry (Lolita), Grant (Irene) and Melissa (Kirt); her grandchildren, Bobbie Lee, April, Angel, Shayla-Lee, Alexis, Chloe; as well as her great-grandchildren, Dahlia, Serenity, Liam and Levi.
Hazel was an astonishing homemaker, her life's work shines bright in the effect she has had on her family, friends, and all whom was welcome in her home. Her greatest joy in life was always ensuring that the ones around her were safe and taken care of, always the first to offer help to family and friends. Her home acted as a safe haven for many who were growing up in the often times tough neighbourhood, she provided guidance and safety for not only her own children but their close friends too, that may have had difficult times finding security elsewhere. Hazel had also taken into her home two foster children as well as many others in need, which she always loved like they were her own. Hazel had a huge heart; her kindness and selflessness will first and foremost be remembered by all who knew her. This includes her warm-hearted kinship she had with her pets over the years, you could never find Hazel without her puppy by her side which brought her so much joy. Hazel leaves behind her dear puppy named Rosie, in the care of her husband Harold.
The relationship she had with her husband was a unique one, many thought it was the bantering that kept the excitement in their partnership alive. Hazel and Harold's marriage was not all hollering, it was also full of laughs, teasing, and even pranks. Harold had his fair share of prank moments, but Hazel's quick wit imbued in her pranks takes the cake. They always had fun in their marriage, whether that be with affection, teasing, even their banter had an essence of love to it.
Hazel had an unparalleled personality that only transfigured over the years. This was most apparent in her wittiness, strength, and quirky persona. Some of Hazel's hobbies included puzzles, crocheting, listening to Latin music, and her favourite watching and collecting horror films. She was a woman of great strength, unique hobbies, laughs, and unconditional love for her family.
A celebration of Hazel's life will be held between close family and friends.

I met Hazel in 1985 and I'm very honored to have known this Special Lady! Her heart was definitely golden and was full of love and kindness for anyone she met and always gave help and understanding to! The house was full of pets, laughter, love, and many friends, kids, or someone stopping by for a safe place to be or just sum food and a coffee. Her loving Harold was always working hard to make Hazel happy, safe, and to do his best to give her anything she wanted and lots of laughter in their quirky jokes to each other! She loved everyone! She definitely was an Angel sent to help anyone that came through her door and all the animals that she looked after as her kids! She loved her kids unconditionally and her grandchildren were her pride and joy! She was so proud to be a Grandma! As time went by, even if I hadn't seen her in a while she always had time for you no matter when you came by and made sure you weren't hungry or needed anything! She was a safe haven to many in the north end and was a Mom to everyone who needed her in their lives! I'll miss talking with her and seeing her very much now but I know her health was starting to decline but she was a fighter always in life! My heart goes out to Harold especially as she was his soul mate, loving wife, person to keep him on his toes, and rock in all the time they were together! I know her kids were very blessed to have Hazel as their Mom as she would do anything for them always! I pray her grandchildren keep her close in their hearts and remember that she loved them very much and that she was very proud to be their Grandma!! My condolences go out to her family and hope they take comfort in each other and stay close and in contact with each other as this is what Hazel would have wanted! Rest now sweet Hazel, you have earned your wings more than ten fold in life! You will be missed by many people who you loved and will be remembered as such a wonderful soul who made the world a happier place!! I love and miss you very, very much Mom but I know you will be watching over all of us!! Xoxo 💔😪 - Posted by: Cindy Lysyshin (Long time friend ) on: Jul 23, 2021

Our sincere condolences to the family. Hazel was a very nice lady that I enjoyed getting to know over the years fixing her computer and cutting her hair. I know she loved her puzzles and collecting movies as often her computer would get slow using torrent software after a while and that would always install all kinds of unwanted stuff on her machine. Then she would give me a call and I would come over and try to fix it. I wish there was more I could have done to help her with things. - Posted by: JJonathan & Melanie (Nieghbors a couple of houses down) on: Apr 19, 2021
