Matija, leaves behind his wife Roshan and two sons, Mark and Alykhan.
Originally from Kuzelj, Croatia, Matija made his way to Winnipeg via Austria to begin a new life on his own in 1969. He came by himself and without any assets. A few years later, he met a co-worker that would end up being his soulmate. Matija, was a hard working person who led a very simple and enjoyable life. All that mattered was that they were in each other's company. His favourite things were watching wrestling, going on walks, watching animal shows and visiting the mall with family on weekends.
During the past year, Matija battled health issues such as pancreatic and liver cancer. He was strong in his battle and did not exhibit any pain. The day of his passing was no different. Matija, went peacefully with family by his side, just the way he would have wanted it.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
