ELIZABETH (BETTY) HILDEBRAND

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Hildebrand at the age of 88 years on March 3, 2021. She died at her home in Powell River, BC, with her husband of 67 years by her side.
Betty and Jim Hildebrand, also of Morden, were married in l953 and moved to Powell River in 1955 with their first born son Rodney (deceased January 8, 1977). They had two more sons, Jerry (Adrienne) and Carey, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Betty was the elder sister of Jack Wiebe (Carmelle) of Ottawa and Eileen Krahn (John) of Winnipeg. Betty was born in Morden to Peter and Mary Wiebe and leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins, mostly in the southern Manitoba area. She attended Morden Collegiate and the Briercrest Bible Institute where she studied music.
Betty was a gifted singer and pianist and played and sang at the Powell River Salvation Army church for more than 50 years. In her younger years she conducted a church choir in Morden and was the lead singer in a gospel trio which delighted many congregations and gatherings with their spirited offerings.
On the home front, Betty was an outstanding cook and had an amazing gift of hospitality - always humble, gracious and gentle. The Lord was her strength and the center of her life. She will be greatly missed.
Betty's family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Powell River General Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Van Zyl for the care he gave Betty, he was always willing to make a house call when needed.
Lastly, thanks to the Salvation Army pastors, majors Rosanne and Glen Fraser, for their many visits and phone calls, and for just being there to pray and support us.

Away from the body and at home with the Lord - 2 Corinthians 5.2.
