JAMES LESLIE WOODS
July 4, 1938 - March 29, 2021
Jim was born July 4, 1938 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He loved mechanics and worked with Air Canada for over 30 years; he was well respected in his profession and loved his job. His job with Air Canada took him from Winnipeg to Toronto, ON to Vancouver, BC. In 1969, he married his wife Joan, and they were together for over 52 years. They loved each other deeply and Joan is so very blessed to have had this amazing man by her side. He loved his family and this love was extended to all who he met. Jim also loved his dogs Jasmine and Buddy and was known to some as the dog whisperer. Joan and Jim moved to Kelowna, BC in 2006 and that is where they were currently residing.
Jim loved the Lord and all who knew him evidenced this in his gentle, kind, loving spirit. Most who came in contact with him will tell you he made a big impact on their lives. He was always willing to listen and his welcoming smile made you feel at ease.
Jim, I will miss your daily kisses and never ending love you surrounded me with. My friend, soul mate, partner, my everything, my BELOVED. Though my heart is broken and aches I will fill the heartache and void with my never ending memories of you, my precious Jim, until we meet again in heaven. -Joan
Joan wishes to express heartfelt thanks for the tremendous outpouring of messages, caring, meals, and love received from family, friends and neighbours, and she especially thanks her great group of friends (too many to name) who are surrounding her and uplifting her and the family during this very difficult time. She is also very thankful for her grandsons David and Jordan who are able to be at her side.
A celebration of Jim's amazing life will be held in Winnipeg later this year, with the date to follow, as well as a small gathering of close friends and family will celebrate Jim in Kelowna, also at a later date this year (both will depend on gathering guidelines and restrictions).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.ca or the Kelowna SPCA, spca.bc.ca/locations/kelowna
