It is with broken hearts and endless love we announce that after a hard fought, courageous three plus year battle with Mesothelioma, Paul-Emile peacefully passed away at home, with his family by his side. These are his words.
To the love of my life, my wife and soulmate Gisèle (Vandale), thanks for the last 52 plus years and all the happy hours we shared after work every night, no matter what time. My daughter Brigitte, the twinkle (pickle) of my eye, a chip off the old block with her work ethic. I couldn't be prouder of you. My pups Foxy and Lola, thanks for keeping me company. Saying goodbye and thanks to my siblings. Rita for calls, Aline for calls and baking, Adrienne for calls, Pauline, Denise (Camil) for calls, Mariette and Priscille for all the regular Sunday calls, I so looked forward to them. Lucille, Claude, Laurent (Nancy), I enjoyed our times together and for your help and calls; Robert (Diane) for calls. My coffee buddy, my brother-in-law Henri for calls. Goodbye and thanks to my Vandale family. Jeannette for cards and calls; Gratias (Allen), Raymond Lambert, and Gilles (Louise) for all the visits and treats. Thanks also to my many nieces, nephews and friends.
Thanks to the following: Suzanne for treats; Rozanne for weekly calls; Michel for Sals treats and ride; my godson Daniel, who was there for me from day one, visits and calls; Rachelle, for calls and treats, and all my pets you know who you are. My godchildren, Raymond, Cathy and Renée. My friend Lise, thanks for all the goodies, visits, and happy hours.
At 15, I started my trade with Nelson River then Frick Construction, first for Percy, then Ralph. The son treated me as good as the dad did. So, I was loyal to them for 49 years, never once left, or wanting to go anywhere else. I also liked working with all my co-workers, all the trades in construction and made some lasting friendships. Joe Lopes, Roger C. thanks for Sunday morning coffee, papers, calls, and all the Friday night suppers with my buddy Carl. Norm, for all the COVID coffee dates; Randy R. always ready to help, sit and chat, and Richard for all the prayers during my fight with cancer, as well as numerous calls and prayers from family and friends.
Now I'm saying hello to my parents, Joseph, Evinelda; my sisters, Laurette, Berthe; brother Ernest; my in-laws, John, Johnny, Paul and Ron; nephews, André and Michel; also my extended family, Alphonse, Agnes, René A, René, Lucienne, Guy and Carole.
Thank You Dr. Susan Green of CancerCare for faithfully being by my side till the end. Also, to my palliative nurses, especially Sean.
Once COVID is safely behind you all, you can expect to hear from my family advising when and where Paul's Happy Hour will be held.
Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
