RONALD (RON) HENDERSON

Ronald Henderson passed away in the Grace General Hospital on March 29, 2021, after a year-long battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Born in Kenora, Ron spent his early years in Whitemouth before the family moved to Portage la Prairie. He worked on construction with his older brother Lyle and for a while, owned his own construction business. Ron lived in Charleswood with his wife Susan and daughters, Rebecca and Ashley. People always filled their home, and he enjoyed weekly dinners with their neighbours the Penners and Murrays. Ron loved his daughters, Rebecca, Ashley and Tre. Their accomplishments made him immensely proud, and he filled the basement with their artwork, report cards and pictures. Still, Ron loved his wife more than anything. For almost 45 years, Ron and Susan travelled the world together. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf with a close group of friends and displaying his pool skills in snooker with long time pool partner Ric.
Ron leaves his wife Susan; daughters, Rebecca, Ashley, Trey, and family, including brothers, Lyle (Sylvia), Keith (Sharon), Joe (Betty), Greg (Kathy), Richard (Dian), and two sisters, Lois and Kathy; brother-in-law Brian (Maggie); and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to their close friend Bev, for her unending support during this time.
Ron has travelled one last time to the other side, where his family is sure he's finding various tasks and jobs to complete like he once did in life.
A celebration of Ron's life is being planned for June 2021, when we are safely able to come together. In the meantime, Ron's family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.
Please, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre.

  • Ron is one of my many cousins across Canada that I enjoyed visiting almost every summer when we were kids. The last time all of us got together, we were adults playing baseball - the Hendersons v. Steiners. I'm so sorry that I didn't get back to see Ron before his passing. Prayers to Susan and his daughters, and all family. Love. - Posted by: Lorraine Jokinen DeRose Demchak (Cousin) on: Apr 13, 2021

  • Leona and I are so saddened to learn of Ron’s passing. Ron and Susan, longtime friends, were a pleasure to be with during the times we got together for an evening dinner or an afternoon by their pool. Ron was always so engaging during our conversations. Leona and I are at a loss for words, except to say he is missed by his many friends and family. May memories of better times and recalling the company of such a good friend be of some comfort at this most difficult time.
