GABRIELLE LALONDE (DONDO) (GABY)
Born: Jan 07, 1925
Date of Passing: Apr 06, 2021Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
1925 - 2021
Gabrielle was born on January 7, 1925 in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. She later married Louis Lalonde and together they settled down in Transcona and then in Norwood where they raised their six children.
Gabrielle will be greatly missed by her children: Louisa, Marc (Magalie), Denis, Michel (Patricia), Joanne (Edouard) and Jacqueline, her sister Yvette (Henri) and her brother Roland (Alice), her sisters-in-law: Yvette, Grace and Stella, her eight grandchildren, her ten great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Gaby touched the lives of many with her joie de vivre and contagious laughter. She found joy in the simple things in life; a good cup of tea, spring flowers and being with her loved ones. Gabrielle enjoyed being active well into her 80s and could be found walking around Saint-Vital and Saint-Boniface or swimming at the YMCA and Bonivital pools. Gaby was a creative and talented seamstress, she loved crocheting, knitting and macrame. She also had a passion for flowers, which filled her homes, gardens, and balconies with colour and joy.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the wonderful staff at Actionmarguerite Saint-Vital-Valade.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Actionmarguerite Foundation, specifically to the Resident and Family Council Courtyard Project.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)
My Mom, Nathalie Jacques would like to offer her deepest sympathy to Gabrielle's family. Several years ago they used to visit and phone each other. They knew each other when they were young. My mother was from St. Claude and I believe Gabrielle was from Notre Dame de Lourdes. Once she left the acceuille Colombien they lost touch. May the good memories help you get through this difficult time. Llilianne Foster - Posted by: Nathalie Jacques (Friend) on: Apr 14, 2021
May I offer our most sincere condolences to the family of Gabrielle, or "Madame Lalonde", as we knew her. When I arrived in Winnipeg after working for several years in the North, Madame Lalonde was the cook and housekeeper at the Oblate residence where I stayed. I always appreciated her sincere and devoted care for the Oblates of our residence, as well as her good humour and unfailing kindness. She is probably looking after many of the saints of heaven right now. From there may she continue to watch over all of her family with the same kind and generous heart that we knew when she worked for us in the 1980's and 1990's. - Thomas Novak, for the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate - Posted by: Thomas Novak (friend) on: Apr 14, 2021
Although we did not know her very well, we will send Mrs. Lalonde a message through one of her daughters. You have done such a great, wonderful and loving job raising Joanne. We would be remiss if we didn't mention Ed as Joanne's helper. We see that those skills have been passed down to her daughters. We are certain that you have been a rock on which your family was built. With love and condolences to the whole family.
