October 24, 1956 - April 11, 2021

After a battle with cancer, Roy peacefully left us on April 11, 2021.
He was the dearly loved youngest son of Ernie and Cecile (Berard) Mistelbacher (deceased), father to sons, Derek (Dagny) and Lee (Teresa), and grandfather to Autumn, Rorke, Lena and Talyia. As a beloved partner to Iva, he also leaves to mourn her and her children, Glenna and Ian (Ashley), and grandchildren, Victoria, Kelsey and Eric. Roy will also be deeply missed by his three siblings and their families: brother Karl (Judy), sons, Dezi and Chase (Theresa); brother Ken (Jill), daughters, Dana (Ryan) and Ashley (Cavan); sister Gail (Jeff Habing), daughter Courtney (Chris) and son Justin (Carly), along with numerous family and friends.
Devoted to his family, moments with Roy were never short of love and laughter - always leaving a lasting impression. Roy grew up in Prairie Grove and was well known in the surrounding farming and trucking / transport communities. Lover of the outdoors Roy could be found hunting, fishing in Winnipeg Beach or spending time with his grandchildren.
Roy will be forever loved and remembered.
A private celebration of his life will be held at Seasons Funeral Chapel in Oakbank, on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery. Those that wish to join the service virtually can do so by clicking the livestream link on Roy's memorial page where condolences and memories can also be shared at

  • Our Sympathies, Leo and Rosemary Rowan - Posted by: Terry Lynn Rowan (Cousin ) on: Apr 18, 2021

  • I remember when Roy was a little munchkin and his mom brought him home from hospital! Then over the next few years, I got married to Barry Grantham and we went to Aunty Cecile and Uncle Ernie’s each Sunday to shoot the breeze and hang out with Karl, Kenny, Roy and Gail. We loved them all so dearly. Roy being the youngest, fit in like a dirty shoe, he was always a “happy camper” and full of laughs, never saw him angry. Barry and I parted ways in 1979, and I lost touch with the family but have many memories. Iva and her family as well as Karl, Kenny & Gail, their partners and children are wished deepest sympathies. May you Rest In Peace Roy, you’re now with Jesus & family, no more pain! Your cousin, Shirley (Grossman) Grantham - Posted by: Shirley Grantham (Cousin ) on: Apr 17, 2021

  • Roy was always fun to be with and never disrespectful to others. We used to go for rides in his brothers old Monaco in hopes of picking up some girls, which never would happened but we had a good time trying. Wish time and life didn’t keep us apart, it was always a blast with him. - Posted by: David gulakow (School friend ) on: Apr 17, 2021

  • My sincere condolences to all of Roy’s family. I made many trips with Roy to Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver back in the 80’s and 90’s. You get to know someone pretty well when you spend that much time in a truck with them & I think Roy was the “easiest going” person I’ve ever known. No matter if the trip was going good or bad, he just went with the flow. I don’t think I ever remember him getting really angry about anything. He was one of a kind. I will miss him. - Posted by: Buddy Laliberte (Freind, former employee ) on: Apr 16, 2021
