ORTON (SONNY) ALBERT MILLER
November 27, 1940 - April 4, 2021

Husband and father, Orton (Sonny) Miller, passed away at Bayside Personal Care Home on Easter Sunday at the age of 80.
Born in Bissett, Manitoba, Sonny was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Linda (nee Blixhavn) in 2019; his mother Vada in 2014; his father Robert in 1970; and sister Sharon in 2004. He leaves to mourn his sons, Darwin (Kim) and Eric; sisters, Lois, Ann, Maxine and Eva; brothers, Morley, Edward, Raymond and Allan; sister-in-law Ruth; their respective spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sonny spent his life shaping the earth as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed camp life while working on the DEW line, several hydro-electric dam projects in northern Manitoba , northern BC mine sites, and many road construction and crushing projects throughout western Canada. Travelling and working in remote Canadian communities always offered new adventures and plenty of stories to tell upon his return.
His retirement years were spent close to home, enjoying frequent drives throughout the countryside with his Cocker Spaniel Buffy, as well as daily trips uptown for coffee and banter or to rehash the previous day's curling results. A highlight of his summer, Sonny never missed a chance to attend the harness races when they came to town. Holiday family gatherings which often included bad wine and homebrew, heated political debates and good natured ribbing were also thoroughly enjoyed.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service is planned for April 24.
Donations in memory of Sonny may be made to Diabetes Canada, 401-1 Wesley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6 or the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th St. E., Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
