ROLAND ZOEL JOACHIM JOSEPH ROCH
1951 - 2021

Winnipeg has lost a great musician. Rolly Rock passed away March 30 in his home in St. Boniface a few days after his 70th birthday.
An honest man, proud, strong, loyal, intelligent, charming, full of charisma, silly humour, and unforgettable talent, he brought new meaning to the Blues through his powerful improvised lead-guitar solos and sweet vocals. A live performing artist, teacher, student, colleague, father, grand-father, brother, uncle, husband, lover, friend, we will all miss this incredible man and his beautiful, magical, soulful music.
Please visit his online memorial at 'GatheringUs.com' to share stories or offer condolences. Photos, footage, recordings may be sent to rollyrockrespects@gmail.com.

  • I'm so sorry to hear of Rolly's passing. He was a great guy and a fantastic bluesman. He was the first guy to invite me up on stage and I've played with him many times since. He will be missed. That smile and laugh!! I'll never forget it. He had a zest for life & music that was infectious- Rock-on Rolly!! - Posted by: Jim Kacki (Friend) on: Apr 21, 2021

  • I was in awe of his lead guitar solos He made the Les Paul sound so mellow. The Strat just screamed His vocals were gruff and powerful. Now you can jam with Stevie and Jimi. R.I.P. old friend. - Posted by: Hank Dupasquier (Ex band mate) on: Apr 19, 2021

  • Our deepest condolences to your family. Rolly was one of my closest friends and we continued to see each other whenever we could. The eulogy written was very nice and quite accurate. He was a great friend and a fantastic musician. I will miss him. I hope that he is playing on his tippy toes in heaven! He used to do that when he played and said that he was trying ot get closer to God. I know that he did sometimes because I could hear it. - Posted by: Glen Nazaruk (Friend bandmate) on: Apr 19, 2021

  • Would like to convey my condolences to the family. Rolly was a very unique and unforgettable man who I had the pleasure of knowing through my cousin Richard Mallach. He came to Baldur several times on many music adventures with such an infectious upbeat personality. He could put a smile on your face in minutes. So glad I had the pleasure of knowing him those 30 years ago. I know he's rocking with the angels now. Rest in peace Rolly Roch. - Posted by: Kathy DeSmet ( Acquainted through Richard Mallach ) on: Apr 17, 2021

- Posted by: Normand Dupasquier (Cousin) on: Apr 17, 2021
