WILMA (JEAN) VOYER
Born on July 29, 1926 in Portage la Prairie, Jean lived most of her life in Winnipeg. She married Barclay in 1950 until his passing in 2004. Mom and Dad lived in the Norwood Flats, St. Boniface and St. Vital areas of Winnipeg.
During their 54 years together, Jean worked as a teller at the main branch of Bank of Montreal on Main Street, Winnipeg. They had three children and then Jean worked part time. Mom also worked at the post office sometimes at Christmas.
Mom was a sweet and very strong woman who survived many trials in her life, including a move cross country to British Columbia at the age of 91.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Olive Donaldson, her infant sister Isobel, her husband Barclay, her sister Jessie and her husband Jim, her sister Ollie and her husband Tony, and her nephew Daniel Donaldson.
Left to mourn her passing are her brother Wilf and his wife Yvonne, their daughter Jennifer and her three children, Ethan (Sheila), Meaghan, Gillian (Ari), great-niece Olive; son Wayne (Janis), grandchildren, Tracey (Leo), Tara (Mark) and great-grandchildren, Mathew (Iris), Tatiana, Bella and Ashlee; daughter Wendy, who moved with Mom three years ago from Winnipeg to Chilliwack, BC, and provided her daily care for three years; daughter Linda (Rick), grandson Ryan (Dawn) and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Zachary, grandson Randy (Melissa) and great-grandchildren Joseph and Lauren, grandson Christopher (Alicia) and great-granddaughter Jade, granddaughter Jennifer and great-grandsons, Noah and Avery. A special mention goes out to Vivian Cameron who was Mom's long time friend for over 70 years.
Six weeks before her passing, Mom needed additional care and was moved to Cascade Lodge Resident Home in Chilliwack who we thank for their compassionate care during Mom's last weeks with end stage dementia.
Mom loved her family, she loved the mountains in BC and never missed the snow in Winnipeg.
The family has already held a viewing for Jean. Funeral services have not been planned due to Covid.
We would like to thank Chilliwack General Hospital, 3 North staff for all the care, peace and privacy they provided when Mom passed away. A very special thanks to Dr. Richard Smith who was so good to Mom, she looked forward to her appointments and their chats.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Alzheimer Society Canada to help with more research to cure Dementia and Alzheimer's.
