JOSEPH HENRY ALBERT (AL) EARIS
January 3, 1934 - March 19, 2021

Al was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and was the oldest of five children born to farmers Burt and Hilda Earis. Al was hired by the Bank of Commerce in Humboldt which launched a 37 plus year career. He transferred to many towns before he arrived in Pickle Crow, ON in 1958 where he first met his future wife, Margaret (nee Crawford). Their relationship blossomed years later in Winnipeg and they were married in 1965. The bank sent Al and his family to Lynn lake and then to Fort Frances, Emo and Atikokan, ON. In 1978, Al was sent back to Manitoba and spent time in Thompson, Lundar and Virden. His last transfer was to Elkhorn; where he retired in 1991.
He poured his heart and boundless energy into the village by volunteering literally thousands of hours of his time. Al was very proud to be "Citizen of the Year" and he so appreciated the many, many friendships that he fostered in his adopted town, but he also loved a good time! He enjoyed many dances and parties as well as curling, skiing and snowmobiling. Al loved travelling, but he loved his time more at the family cottage at Ingolf, ON. He loved to fish, and we loved him for cleaning them! There was always a cold beer in the fridge and a crib board on the table!
The family is forever grateful to the caring staff of the Manor who provided him with outstanding care and compassion during his two months stay, as well as Kay Thompson, Rick Paull, Darwin Stonehouse, and the many, many folks (too many to mention) who supported him and his family during his brief illness.
Predeceased by his wife Margaret (2020); father (1983); mother (1990) and sister Florence Emmins (2012). Al leaves to cherish his memory to his siblings, Ruth, Alan and Ronald (Pat) all of Saskatchewan; as well as extended family. Al is the loving father to Daniel, Patrick (Kelly), William and Loralee (Lori); and his grandchildren. April, Nicholas, Christopher and Adam. Al was a banker and a pilot but he was most proud of his family and how close we are.
In keeping with his wishes, a private family service has been held. A Celebration of Life will be held later at Ingolf, as well as interment at Wolverine Cemetery near Humboldt.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ingolf Campers Association Fire Department or to Elkwood Manor Ladies Auxiliary.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Sincere sympathy to the Albert Earis family. My thoughts & prayers are with you all at this time. Who was a kind, honest and gentle man, spent lots of hours reminiscing about old times. Enjoyed your mom & dad's visit once a year when they came to visit in Saskatchewan. - Posted by: Bernie Earis (Cousin) on: Apr 28, 2021
