ALBERT LEONARD ALBERTSON
August 24, 1935 - April 16, 2021
Bert was predeceased by his wife Joan "Sherry" Sherwood, and his parents, Albert "Bert" Sigurdur and Adalheidur "Heida" Magny Holm. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susan Anderson and Carol-Anne Albertson (William); grandchildren, Alexandria (Adam) and Melanie Anderson; great-grandchildren, Henry and Audrey; brothers, Herb (Laurel) and Ken (Donna); and his cherished friend Dorothy. Bert was born in Gimli, MB and spent his childhood in Beresford Lake, MB, Langford, BC and Pine Falls, MB.
After marriage Bert and his family lived in Winnipeg, Calgary, Toronto and Tillsonburg before settling down in Grand Bend, ON where he lived for over 45 years. Bert loved the outdoors, travel and spending time with his family. Bert was admired for his generosity and kindness. He was an active leader in many community organizations dedicating many volunteer hours to the Canadian Cancer Society, Southcott Pines Association, Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce, Probus Club and Grand Bend Rotary Club. Recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow he modelled his life after the Rotary motto "Service Above Self".
The family would like to thank the staff of the Jackson Creek Retirement Home and Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion.
Private family arrangements will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Albert's name to Parkinson Canada or the Rotary Foundation through the funeral home or online.
