MARJORIE LORRAINE CHAIKOWSKI
(LALIBERTE)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved beautiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marjorie Chaikowski, who peacefully passed away on April 19, 2021, at Pembina Place Mennonite (Deaf Centre Manitoba).
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, sister Eleanor and parents, Eugene and Elizabeth. Mom will be greatly missed by her son Randy (Linda), daughters, Sue (Linda) and Rita (Ken), her grandchildren, Lorie (Ray), Holly, Corey (Christina), Sally (Mark), Cathy (Ian), Greg (Cecilia) and Jonathan, and great-grandchildren, Daniella, Kendra, Malwina, Zedislava, Harley, Peyton and Emma. She will also be missed by her brother Eugene (Nancy), and many extended family and friends.
Mom was a very friendly, caring person who had a heart of gold. Mom was born in Kenora, Ontario. She went to Belleville School for the Deaf. In 1944 Marjorie met and married her true love, Joseph Chaikowski. It was love at first sight and they spent 53 years together until his passing in 1998. Mom loved to travel to watch the Canadian Deaf Curling Championships. You could always see Mom and her best friend, Shirley Fargey, enjoying the games cheering on Manitoba. And we cannot forget Mom's love of watching her beloved Blue Jays and curling on T.V. Mom was a huge supporter of the Deaf community and Deaf curlers. Mom attended Manitoba Deaf Seniors Club activities every Friday until the outbreak of Covid-19. Mom thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed going out for dinner with her family and having a glass of wine.
A private service for family will be held later this year.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Pembina Place Mennonite (Deaf Centre Manitoba). Thank you for the extraordinary care and support that made our beloved mother happy and comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Deaf Sports Association (CDSA) - the National Deaf Curling Program, CP 41035, CSP Centre Duvernay, 3100 boul. Concorde Est, Laval, Quebec H7E 5H1 or on line at www.assc-cdsa.com

"We love you and you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."

ILY

  • Marjorie was the kindest and most thoughtful person I have ever known. I loved her very much as did my late Mom, Shirley Fargey. The two of them cherished one another and their friendship was amazing to witness firsthand. They enjoyed spending time together at MDSC, going out for dinners along with one another’s children. Marjorie and my Mom would each enjoy a glass of red wine and always requested a glass of ice cubes for their wine. They were alike in so many ways. There are many wonderful memories but one that sticks out in my mind is when I flew to Vancouver for the final weekend of the CDCC and I arrived at the curling and there was Marjorie and Mom sitting next to one another visiting as they cheered on the MB teams. We shared so many laughs as we stayed in one room together along with Rita and Ken. It was crowded but so much fun. Rest In Peace dearest Marjorie. • To the entire Chaikowski family, my thoughts and prayers are with you as I am saddened and heartbroken to hear the passing of a woman who brought much light within Deaf Centre Manitoba, often when she was accompanied by her son Randy, and at times with Randy's wife Linda, whenever I would see them appear together within the D.C. Cafe. During the times when many of us enjoyed watching TV or having supper amongst your family, along with your presence within the room also brought much warmth when it was needed most. I'll never forget you. Marjorie, please continue to watch over us from Heaven 'til we meet again, when we'll all be reunited for eternity. God Bless You and your family. - Posted by: Zephaniah Hannem (Friend of Randy & Linda Chaikowski) on: Apr 24, 2021
