SUSAN WAISANEN
(nee DERKSEN)
November 1, 1932 - April 13, 2021
She will be missed by her brothers, Abe (Lillian) Derksen, Bob (Judy) Derksen, stepbrother Abe (Betty Ann) Dueck, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth (nee Penner), brothers, Irwin, Dave, Jake, Walter and Ben, sisters, Elsie, Helen, Kay and Ann.
Once retired, Susan and Brian spent the summers at their cottage in Pointe du Bois where she was the "Goldeye Smokin' Queen" and generously shared with loved ones. Susan and Brian also enjoyed travelling and went to Finland, Portugal, Cuba, Europe, Egypt and made numerous trips to California and Vancouver to see her siblings. Susan, after Brian passed away, spent a few more summers at "The Pointe" but it wasn't the same without her Brian. The last trip she took was on a bus tour to the Maritimes.
Her family would like to thank Susan's niece Linda (Henry) Wiebe for being such a close friend and helper over the past few years. Susan also enjoyed spending time with her good friends, Evelyn Drury (thank you for all your help these last weeks) and Marg Toker and looked forward to each get-together.
A private service will be held later this month, officiated by Pastor Bruce Gelhorn.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to Canadian Luthern World Relief, c/o Grace Luthern Church, 211 Kimberly Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 0X3.
Rest in Peace dear sister,
until we meet again.

Susan and my Mom Irene were friends. Mom is still waiting to hear the daily knock on her door from Susan as she faithfully delivered the daily newspaper or brought her the "news from the block" or came to take out the recycling or to announce the time and channel of the next curling or baseball game. Susan had a heart of gold and was always willing to help out and lend a hand. I know she always brightened up my mom's day with her visits and phone calls. May she rest in peace and know that she will be greatly missed in our world. - Posted by: Charlotte Kaisaris (Friend) on: Apr 24, 2021
