It is with deepest sorrow, after a short courageous battle with Lymphoma Cancer, that we announce, our Dad, William Raymond Hutmacher, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the age of 84.
Dad was born on June 27, 1936 in Bruno, Saskatchewan, a farming community that he was raised and schooled, finishing grades at St. Benedict, Saskatchewan where the family ran the cafe.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and William Sr. Hutmacher, and his brother Kenneth. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 58 years, son Darrell, daughter Beverly (Dave) Rutkowski, grandchildren, Travis, Austin and Karen; brother Donald (Cheryl) and family; sister-in-law Goldene and family; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
After college, Dad gained Accounting employment with UMA / Aecon, retiring with over 40 years of service on June 30, 1998. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Always enjoying family times, birthdays, holidays, camping, bowling, curling, cribbage and card games. He found great pleasure spending time at the family cottage in Traverse Bay with four legged and winged friends, all the neighbours, around the fire pit or evening canasta card games and maybe a scotch. Dad's other passion was (road) travel to hometown family visits, especially to San Antonio, Texas - the home of the grandkids! He had spent and lost time at the casino, with success at solitaire, jumble and words search, he prospered at channel surfing sports - especially beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Yankees and of course Saskatchewan 'Go Green' Riders, he always maintained unconditional love.
In keeping with wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or to a charity of choice.

  • He will be missed by his many friends and family. Over the last several years only got to see him and Helen at family functions but his friendly personality was as those we had seen each other more often. Great, friendly and always with a smile. Treasure the great memories he has left with all who got to meet him - Posted by: Cleo Hutmacher (Cousin ) on: Apr 24, 2021

  • Bill was a gentle, fun and quiet man. My family and I always enjoyed our visits with Bill and Helen when we were fortunate enough to be in Texas at the same time. We will always have those memories. Some fond memories: Austin’s first Easter- we were at Bev and Dave’s house on Hialea and the neighbors were have a backyard party with a piñata. Bill and family had never witnessed in person. Everyone got so excited! Such a fun memory. Karen’s baptism, prior to the event Bob and I had the pleasure of visiting with just Bill and Helen. We had such a fun time telling stories and I think Bob got Bill a bit tipsy. Though our visits were not many, Bill has a special place in our heart and he will be missed on earth. I hope to see him in heaven one day. Much love to Helen, Darrell, Bev and family. - Posted by: Debbie Oberlin (Extended family in-law ) on: Apr 24, 2021
