February 6, 1931 - April 22, 2021

After a full and faith filled life, Joan Violet Rowland passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2021. She has now been lovingly reunited in heaven with her husband and love of her life, Gordon Rowland.
Joan leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Jill (Terry), Janet (Brian) and Gary (Tracy), as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Joan will also be forever remembered by her sister Beatrice and brother Teddy, as well as many other loved family members. Joan was predeceased by her brother Bill and parents, William and Rita Lloyd.
Joan has left a legacy of love for all who knew her, but especially for her family. Joan's family was always her first priority. Her family feels so blessed to have had such an amazing lady as their mom, Nana, great-grandma, friend, cheerleader, mentor and role model. Joan touched so many hearts and always had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved. She was a kind and gentle soul who loved unconditionally. Heaven has gained another angel.
For those who have been faithful, O Lord, life is not ended, but merely changed; and when this earthly abode dissolves, an eternal dwelling place awaits them in heaven.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

"We love you Mom and are so proud of you."

  • Jill, Janet, Gary, saddened to hear of your mom's passing. She was such a nice person and our family had so many good times with her and your father back in the day. I had a chance to see your mom in her yard a few years ago, we had such a great visit. Our condolences from the Patrick’s. - Posted by: Stephen Patrick (Friend) on: May 04, 2021

  • We are so saddened to hear the news of Joan's passing. Heaven certainly gained another Angel! We met Joan and Gordie through our friends Doug and Beatrice. We made some great memories the few times we got together...Iowa State Football Game, building the porch on their lake home and the cruise through Panama Canal. We will always cherish their laughter, their kindness and their friendship. May your faith and memories carry you through today and all the tomorrows! God Bless You All, Jo and Dave Fisher - Posted by: Jo and David Fisher (Friends) on: May 02, 2021

  • I just read in the paper this morning of Joans passing. I met Joan in church, and Gordon had passed away the day after my husband. I have thought of her often, wondering how she was doing, as she was going thru the same struggle that I am from being alone and missing the love of her life and best friend, during the added isolation that covid has brought us. Joan was a sweet, gentle person, we connected instantly, I am very saddened for her family and in my own heart. One positive thought is one I long for, now finally Joan and Gordon are together again. - Posted by: Laraine Shepherd (Friend from church) on: May 01, 2021
