RAYMOND GEORGES LAVIGNE

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Dad on April 21, 2021, at the age of 92.
He is survived by sons, Mike (Denise), Richard (Donna), daughter Gisele (Kevin), daughter-in-law Barb, 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, additionally his loving partner of many years Elda, along with her son Maurice (Denise), daughters, Ida (Ron), Louise and Yvette (Rob), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife Gertrude and son Denis.
Born in Montreal, Quebec with an adventurer's soul Ray hopped a train at 18 years of age and headed west. As good fortune would have it, his journey ended in Winnipeg where he would meet Gertrude, put down roots, raise a family and make many friends.
Dad always felt he was a very fortunate man as many years later after Mom's passing he would meet the second love of his life. Elda and her family welcomed him with open arms, their warmth and love treasured for 30 plus years. He told us many times he was a very lucky man to have Elda and her family in his life.
The family wishes to acknowledge the amazing staff at "See Eye Clinic" who assisted without hesitation, the 911 Operator and First Responders who so expertly cared for our Dad. We will be forever grateful. Thank You so Much.
Honouring Dad's wishes there will be no Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNIB or The Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Gisele, Ricky, Mike and Denise, I am very sorry for your loss. I have so many memories and lessons learned from Ray. He taught me to appreciate red wine, to never ask a staff member to do something you wouldn't do yourself. So yes, I wiped dust off of leaves, many leaves. I also still can't put money in a till upside down...he was so adamant about it. I hope that your memories of your Dad help you navigate this part of his journey. I am sure his passing leaves a void in your lives. My condolences. - Posted by: Sandy Lane (Werner) (former employee) on: May 06, 2021
