MILDRED MARGARET SULLIVAN
(nee McDOUGALL)
February 14, 1929 - April 29, 2021
"Our Valentine Gal"
Born the youngest child of a large farm family outside Virden, Manitoba, university-educated with her Bachelor of Arts, Mil went on to become a world-travelling wife and mother of four - and was barely finished 'mothering' when she became a grandmother chasing after nine grandkids in ten years.
Air Force living resulted in many homes, in many provinces and countries, during the family's formative years. Throughout, Mil was always there for the family, through the good times and the bad. Home cooking at its finest, hostess with the mostest, Mil eventually even found time to work outside the home, including volunteer service. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with - but also offered a shoulder to lean on and was the steadfast centre and creator of our place called home.
Family and home were most important to Mil and to this she brought a very open and (shocking-ly!) progressive mind. Always up to date with the news of the world, Mil kept herself well informed - even at 92 years young - often stating that the daily crossword had kept her mind sharp (never mind the crazy story lines of The Young and Restless ). She also boasted that learning to drive a standard auto at age 35 in post-war France while wearing high heels was one of her proudest accomplishments!
Thanks to The Boulton for a safe and caring home these past nine years. Thanks also to her ex-tended family, the Forsters, the Reddons, and the McDougalls, for staying in touch, particularly during all the years since her husband Jim's passing in 1998.
Mil now lives forever at home in the hearts of her family:
Barbara (Ron) Ade; Kristopher,
Jameson (Michelle).
Dan (Carolyn) Sullivan; Karly (Jeremy),
Kaitlyn (Kyle), Konnor (Erin) and
dearest great-grandson Bennett.
Leslie (Mark) Nepon; Hayley, Joshua.
Anne (Stephen) Vallentyne; Corben,
Jade (Adam).
A lover of a good movie, a good book, and a great big bowl of ice cream, may our Millie rest for-ever in peace and love.
P.S. Even if we weren't in the midst of a pandemic, Mildred was adamant that there should be no funeral for her. All she asked was for people to be kind to one another.

This was sad news. Such a precious lady. My memories of Millie are from very young when I watched her put lipstick on with a brush! Always remember her heart-shaped beautiful face. Of course she was born on Valentine's Day. Her gracious ways and lovely laugh. I believe she learned to sew in French while living in France. A remarkable woman. I'm afraid we left our brothers to keep in contact and of course we are the poorer for it. We send our deep sympathy to you all, Barbie, Dan, Leslie and Anne and your spouses and children. We pray the God of all comfort will comfort you now. Lovingly, Auntie Jane - Posted by: Jane Hawksworth (Sister-in-law) on: May 05, 2021

Dear Barb, Dan Leslie, Ann and families. My deepest sympathies to you all during this difficult time. You all will have many cherished memories of your precious Mom. Wonderful you all had so many years with her. Heard news of your families through Bill's conversations with your Mom over the years. I have great memories of our visit to France many years ago. Love and Blessings to you all Auntie Joan - Posted by: Joan Ludlow (aunt) on: May 04, 2021

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Auntie Mil, but wow! 92! What a life! I loved getting to know her on her visits east with Uncle Jim and the couple times I was able to get out west. Praying for you all as you celebrate her together. - Posted by: Jennifer Ludlow (Niece ) on: May 04, 2021

We lived in Winnipeg for a short time in the 70's and I have such fond memories of Auntie Mil. She was such a warm and welcoming aunt who always seemed quick to laugh. I am so sorry for your loss Barb, Dan, Leslie and Anne. My father, Bill Sullivan, also sends his love to you all! - Posted by: Jan Sullivan (Niece) on: May 04, 2021

Extending our love and sympathy to all the family. We had the pleasure of meeting Mildred when she visited Anne, Stephen and family in Kelowna. She was a very special lady, kind, intelligent and so appreciative of her family. She will live on in your hearts. - Posted by: Hazel and James Allison (Friend) on: May 02, 2021
