TOMAS JOSE ARRUDA DIAS SOARES
July 11, 1941 – April 30, 2021

After a lengthy hospitalization and while recovering at home, Tomas, age 79, passed peacefully on the evening of April 30, with his wife and daughter by his side.
Our family near and far are heartbroken by this loss but will treasure the many memories of our journey together over the years, including summer gatherings, family dinners, a lifetime of love and laughter, playfulness, and his sibling competitiveness. He had a quiet and deep love of family and lived life on his terms.
Tomas was born on the island of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He was a veteran of the Portuguese Army and saw action in Angola, 1962 to 1964. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 to start a life with his wife and worked hard to support his family. He spent his later years gardening, reading, and doting on his grandson, who gave him endless joy.
He is survived by his wife Adriana, children, Alice, Susy (Jerry) and Thomas (Erin), and siblings, Jose (Alcina), Carlos (Helena), Fernando and Fatima (Terry). He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A private family funeral will take place on Saturday, May 8 at Assumption Cemetery.
