René was predeceased by his mother Thérèse (née Faiziant-Lageat), his father Ambroise, his stepmother Ida Fifi-Hague, as well as her children, Charles, Lloyd, and Irène (Guy Jamault).
Education was René's life. His teaching career started in the 1950s at Beausale, a rural school in Notre-Dame de Lourdes. He then moved to St. Norbert where he taught for several years before becoming principal of the new school.
René was forever a history teacher and loved his country. He visited Canada from coast to coast researching and recounting stories. He spent many winters in Florida and his summers in Falcon Lake with his good friends.
