With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Darlene "Deanie" Lynn Friesen, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 6, 2021 in Red Deer, AB.
Darlene was born June 15, 1951 in Selkirk, MB to Walter and Leona Foreman. In 1976, she married the love of her life Ken Friesen and moved to Alberta where she accomplished many of her life dreams. She was a nurse for many years, before starting her own successful retail business in Red Deer, AB. Upon retirement, Darlene and Ken travelled to many beautiful places around the world. Above all, she loved travelling back home to Manitoba to visit family.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Ken Friesen; and sisters, Dale (Peter Harris) and Janice (Casey Kehoe); sisters-in-law, Irma (Lorne Driedger), Elvina (Henry Hiebert); and brother-in-law Norman Friesen (Joyce). She will be fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews.
Darlene was a true friend and loving member of her family. Those who knew her were lucky to have had her in their lives and no doubt are thankful for all the love and special times which were shared.

  • We were very sorry to hear of Deanie’s passing. We send our sincerest sympathy to Ken and all the family. I have many wonderful memories of the times spent with Deanie and her family when we were young. Especially, at her parent’s home and the homes we shared as young adults. I also remember the excitement of her first date with Ken. I will never forget her beautiful smile. May God Bless you all with lovely memories. Lorne & Mildred When you are sorrowful look again in your heart and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Kahlil Gibran The sense of loss must give way, if we are to value the life that was lived. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith It is the price of Love. Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pour through and shine down upon us to let us know they are happy. - Posted by: Lorne & Mildred Parker (Friends) on: May 15, 2021
