It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend Darrel.
He will be missed and remembered by his parents, Brigitte and Jacques, his brother Derek, and partner Meagan Nenka. Darrel also leaves to cherish his memory, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on both the Trudel and Roy side of the family, and his Folk Fest site crew family.
When Darrel loved someone or something, he loved them with all of his heart. His family was always priority, he always looked forward to gatherings we had, especially Christmas and to any reason we had to get together. He loved music, cooking for others, and spending time outside. He loved sitting by the fire, camping, spending time on the river with Russell, snowmobiling with Derek, cruise nights with Sean, making music with Meagan, or cutting wood with Stefan, Justin, Calvin, and his little buddies, Lincoln and Caiden who he just adored.
The one he loved to spend the most time with was his dog, Winnie. Darrel was taken away from his family and Winnie way too soon. We will miss the many passionate conversations, his laugh, his voice and his sense of humour among many other things.
Waiting for him are memère and pepère (Hélène, Gilbert) Trudel, memère and pepère (Lorraine, Paul) Roy, Gilbert, petite Jocelyne, Barb and Lise Roy.
A celebration of Darrel's life will take place at a later date, by invitation only due to Covid19 restrictions.

We love you and miss you Darrel.

  • I had the pleasure to meet Dale five years ago. First time meeting him I knew we would be good friends because he was so easy to get along with always smiling great humour. He was an amazing friend. He would do anything for anyone. He had a heart of gold if anyone needed help he was their no matter what. We have so many memories together that I will cherish. My condolences goes out to his family and friends. RIP Dale, your truly missed xoxo - Posted by: Kim (Friend ) on: May 26, 2021

  • I met Dale about 4-5 years ago through my girlfriend's family. I never anticipated how close of a friend he’d become to me, but Dale made that easy. He was just so easy to get along with. After meeting Dale, I quickly realized we had plenty in common. I respected the person he was for many reasons; he knew a lot about food and brought him joy cooking for others, he was always willing and happy to help out like helping me move into my first apartment, he loved the outdoors (possibly the fastest person I've seen in a pair of rollerblades!) and lastly he was there for me when I lost my mother. One memory that will always stick with me is when I had a spare and saw Dale around the college, we were both hungry so we decided to head to Miss Browns for some brunch. We chatted about the difficulties of being an adult, had some good laughs, then I went to class. Dale was a yes person and I loved that, he was always up for hanging out even after a long day of work. I honestly can't believe he is gone, rest in peace king. Say hi to moms for me. - Posted by: Malik (Friend) on: May 18, 2021

  • Dale lived with us on and off for around 4 years. It was always a pleasure to have him. When I needed help with vehicle problems, he was there. Removing a stripped bolt, fabricating a metal part or welding, Dale had the know how and connections to get the job done. Helping haul supplies to the lake he was on it. It didn't matter if it was shovelling snow, cutting wood or moving furniture, he would always lend a hand. Dale was quite the cook and could prepare and season a variety of dishes. I enjoyed making beef or chicken stroganoff for him. We shared a common likeness for hot peppery taste, and enjoyed creating various flavour profiles together. I will miss him and his chuckle type laugh. Gone far too young. Rest in Paradise my friend. Wayne - Posted by: Wayne (Friend) on: May 17, 2021

  • Thinking of you and your family.. - Posted by: Gilles et Desneiges Roy (Cousin) on: May 15, 2021

  • Met Dale quite a few years ago, he was in a relationship with my niece, Talia. Over the years we had the pleasure of many visits. He was quite the character, beautiful smile and personality to match. One day I dropped in to visit and that’s when I met Winnie, the stray pooch Dale & Talia found. My goodness, they would have a friend & Winnie would have a good home that she so deserved! I was so saddened to hear of his passing, such a nice young man, with his whole life ahead of him. To his parents, brother, other family members, friends & all those that had the pleasure to know this fine young man, I offer my deepest sympathy & condolences. May you Rest In Peace Dale, and know you are deeply missed. Angela & Lawrence - Posted by: Angela F. (Friend) on: May 15, 2021

  • We are so very sorry to hear of Darrel’s passing. He was such a good friend to our daughter (Roxanne Champagne) and had been to our home several times always greeting us with a hug. He was so lovable and we easily developed a soft-spot for him. We can’t begin to imagine what you, his parents (and brother) are going through.. Deepest condolences & Heartfelt sorrow to all of you. Rest easy little man xo - Posted by: Mona Champagne (Friend ) on: May 15, 2021
