  • Knew mike for along time. Worked with him, played sports with him, partied with him. My dad treated Mike like another son. My dad was his godfather to his first son. When my dad passed away, Mike gave a beautiful speech about him. Mike you where a good guy, just sorry to hear you had to leave to soon, rip. - Posted by: Manny ducharme (Friend) on: May 23, 2021

  • So sad to hear of Mike's passing. He will always be remembered with a smile on his face. He was such a bright light, definitely one of the good ones! My prayers and condolences for his family and close friends who will no doubt be feeling a huge loss for a long time. - Posted by: Teresa (School friend) on: May 19, 2021

  • Our prayers are with Laurie and the family, knowing that Mike can now guide, and oversee them from above. Seems appropriate as I remember Mikes ‘Ultimate Signs’ showing us the way to Cathie's wedding at Uncle Mike’s farm and his big personality at family gatherings. May he rest in eternal peace. - Posted by: Cori Lapka and Rick Osborne (Family) on: May 19, 2021

  • Our condolences to the Family, Mike was a good friend in Jr High. We connected again several years ago and Mike had such a great personality. It's very sad to hear about a good friend from the past leaves us. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Kelly & Michelle Ollinik (Friend) on: May 19, 2021

  • My deepest condolences to Laurie and the boys, as well as all family and friends. It is with great sadness to hear of Mike’s passing. Even though I left Winnipeg in '89, we kept our friendship up with interest in each other, and our families. Mike will live on forever in so many of us, and in many profound ways. Oh so many great times and memories with my Brother Mike. His commitment to others was seldom equaled. There were never excuses or let’s do it another day. Mike’s way was to say “let’s get at er” Bronx Park, Fraser’s Grove, Curtis Hotel, drink specials, LN7, sponge hockey, hockey, golf, tennis, biking, KE, Western Grocers, Rock shows and just hanging with the boys. My Love, admiration, and eternal respect Mike! Dave Monteith - Posted by: Dave Monteith (Friend) on: May 17, 2021

  • It was with a heavy heart I learned about the news regarding Mike. I recall so many great times the Elmwood/EK/MMC/KE gang all spent together growing up; the first cars, the endless time in garages all over the neighbourhoods spent trying to keep them going; the lunch hours at the Tech door or in my triple garage; the summer nights of Roxy, Fraser's Grove, 7, the 'bush' at Gateway and a thousand more memories have flooded my mind in remembrance the past week. Mike was an integral part of all our experiences growing up and his memory will always shine on. My sincere condolences to all family and friends and may Mike rest easy. Till we meet again. - Posted by: Phil Afanasiev (Friend) on: May 17, 2021

  • Mike, I’ve known you since you were 3. You have always been a person who loved life and wanted to make the most of it. We curled, we golfed, we did many things and you always handled things with happiness and verve. I have loved you so much and God's design must be that you help even more people where you're going as well. You're a peach Bro - Posted by: Glenn Lowery- (Brother in law) on: May 15, 2021

  • I am so saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. Such a kind, fun, family guy, who enjoyed all aspects of his life and was so much fun to be around. Mike and I worked together and over the last year and a half, talked and texted about similarities in our health journeys. Such an inspiration, the courageous battle he waged to be with his loved ones will stay with me forever. My deepest condolences to Mike’s family, may you find peace in the memories of a wonderful man. - Posted by: Scott Kaisaris (Friend) on: May 15, 2021

  • Mike was a leader in our group which included Neil Harvey, Al Lewchuk, Carl Ruta and me. We were so lucky that our group was blessed with Mike. He was the first to do most things, marry, have kids, have grandchildren and now go to heaven. I still have a hard time accepting that he is gone. In our youth, there were some truly incredible times. Those days are gone now, but they will never be forgotten. Mike will never be forgotten either. I remember him everyday still, however, I am starting to not be so sad, but am starting to remember those good old days more. God took our best friend home at a young age. May God in His infinite wisdom keep Laurie, the kids, grandchildren and the immediate family and friends, in his care here on Earth. My condolences to everyone. Best regards, Rod Tymchuk. - Posted by: Rod Tymchuk (Friend) on: May 15, 2021
