AGNES NETLEY SEMENCHUK

At her home in Winnipeg, on April 24, 2021, Agnes (Aggie) Netley Semenchuk passed away at the age of 80.
The youngest daughter of John and Josie Semenchuk, Aggie was predeceased by brothers, Tony, John, Sam, Jim and sister Jean Rudyk, and is survived by her older brother Steve Semenchuk of Winnipeg.
Aggie had a very successful career in the Public Service, starting as a stenographer with Indian Affairs in Selkirk, MB in 1963. She was eventually transferred to Ottawa in January 1973, moving to Customs and Excise in July of that year.
Possessing a strong work ethic and excellent leadership skills, Aggie participated in a number of senior management roles with Customs and Excise, eventually retiring in 1996 to more actively pursue her love of travel.
Aggie's true passion was her involvement with Jaycees International and the friendships she developed, becoming a lifelong member to the Jaycees International Senate in 1981. Aggie also enjoyed her time spent as a volunteer with the Queensway-Carleton Hospital in Ottawa until her move back to Winnipeg in February 2020.
With her dog always by her side, Aggie possessed a keen sense of humour, and loved to be with family, friends, and spending time in the outdoors.
A private family service is planned.
A special thank-you to the staff at River Ridge Retirement Residence for their compassion and professionalism.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I have been trying to send the family a few pictures from Aggie's time in Ottawa with Jaycees friends. I shared it with friends here in the Ottawa area that we shared. I ended up sending it to Aggie's e-mail address. The family may have already, or can find it there. I knew and loved Aggie for so many years as a Jaycee friend and or friend regardless of our Jaycee connection. She supported me when I was dealing with chemo and radiation and was instrumental in getting me to stop smoking. She was a wonderful hostess and shared generously of her time and resources, including having the Jaycee gang up to her trailer and a nearby cottage in Ardoch on several occasions. She will be missed here as well as by her family. Sincerely, Heather Cross - Posted by: Heather Cross (friend) on: May 26, 2021

  • I fondly remember Aggie while working at Indian Affairs with her as my Supervisor. She taught me a lot of valuable ethics of work and personal guidance. Very amazing and caring lady. May she Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Margaret Pollock (Co-worker ) on: May 19, 2021
