I met Neil in high school at John Taylor Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1979. I first met him in Mr.Sparks math class. He played bass guitar in the high school band with a passion. He had a huuuuge Afro hair style that made him stand out and a good full hardy laugh too.It would be a couple of years after high school I would meet him by accident on a Canadian Navy destroyer docked in Esquimalt ,BC as he was a “pencil pusher” in 1985. Later in time I met Neil again in 2001 as he stayed a night or two with me until he found other accommodations back here in Winnipeg. He missed his Mom and Dad dearly as they both passed away when I met him in the navy. I often wonder why became of Neil after 2001 as he had some concerns of life. He earned his red seal as a chef and served as one with a street mission on Main Street as a way to pay his board and room where he lived, this would have to be around 2016. He was a good natured man and liked to talk with jokes to no end. Again I would wonder what became of Neil and now I have found his obituary here I am glad he has gone to the Lord. Rest in peace as the saying goes Neil. you meant well in life but like us all, you had concerns of life that were a challenge for you. I am proud of yo as you tried your best. Miss you and your good natured, and caring demeanour. - Posted by: Alan Sideen (Freind) on: Feb 01, 2026
