LEONA MARIE ANGE TROIA
(nee GRENIER)
Raised in St. Boniface most of her life and worked at Tache Nursing Centre where she was liked by all staff and residents for her creativity and outside the box thinking with new programs and outings for the elderly residents. Leona had the gift of gab and always had a story to tell whether it was good or bad it was told the way it happened with all the facial and body animation on her part. In her younger years Leona was quite comfortable in the pool and was a competitive swimmer with great success indeed, she loved life as well as all her nieces and nephews equally, family and friends were always a big part of her life.
Leona is predeceased from her soul mate, husband Sam (Salvatore Troia), she joins her father (Dad) Joseph Grenier in heaven, and will be lovingly remembered by her mother (Mom) Rollande Grenier (nee Leblanc) (Helaire), Leona was oldest to all her brothers, Alphonse (Clydine), Robert (Deana), Raymond (Rose), Rolly (Colette). Always remembered and never forgotten as Pedrina to her Godchildren, Paul, Francesca, Amanda and Melanie.
Special thanks to Amanda Lackey and family for all there help; good friends, Jean P., Mandy and Ron; and St. Boniface Hospital comfort care nurses and doctors for comforting and caring for Leona during her final days.
A celebration of Leona's life will be held at a later date at Assumption where she will join Sam in her final resting place.
Rest in Peace Little Sister
you will be Missed.

So deeply sorry and sad to learn about Leona’s passing. Growing up just one house away in St Boniface, I have so many wonderful memories of Leona, and of her family as well. Camping trips with my Dad putting up with 6 active kids! (we 3 were allowed to each bring a friend), swimming at Provencher pool, clubhouse fun, and staging variety shows for the street residents are all cherished childhood memories I have with Leona. Leona had a bubbly personality and we always had many many laughs. I was happy to visit her a few years ago at her apartment in Transcona and we caught up once again at the Louis Riel School Reunion just a few years ago. It was nice to keep in touch with Leona through out the years on Facebook. Leona knew my family well, as I knew hers. In many ways she was like family. Not long ago she recounted to me a story of how my Mom used to read her daily newspaper in a very particular manner, folding each sheet carefully once it was read. This was something I had no memory of but thanks to Leo I now cherish it. Leo, you were a great girl and I will always remember you with love and affection. You will be very much missed. To Rolande, Alph, Robert and Raymond - my deepest condolences on losing such a wonderful person. Leo, you were one of a kind! The real deal. I will never forget you! Love, your old friend , Nicky. - Posted by: Nicole Fournier (Friend) on: May 22, 2021

I have so many happy memories of Leona . We grew up together in St-Boniface, living on the same street. Sleep overs at each other’s houses. We were always together playing outside, summer swimming, bike riding on the monkey trails and winter tobaganningI Fun times camping with our families. Weekends at the Grenier home feasting on matante Rollande’s famous macaroni and watching Hockey with mon oncle Jos. As teens going to the Friday night dances will stay in my memory . In the last few years I visited her when I came to Wpg and we picked up where we left off. Laughing and reminiscing. The special place in my heart for Leona will remain in me always. Leona , I wish you peace and joy with Salvatore and your Dad. Give a big hug to my Dad for me. I’m sure the two Jo’s are together. My heartfelt condolences to all the family her four brothers Alphonse Robert Raymond and Rolland and most specially matante Rollande. XX - Posted by: Jacqueline Fournier (Friend) on: May 22, 2021

Was very sad to hear of Leona's passing. After Uncle Sam died we only saw each other at funerals, showers, and an occasional family event but when we did see her, it was always nice to catch up. She will be missed by many. - Posted by: Novella Troia (Niece) on: May 22, 2021
