NORMAN PODOLSKI
September 22, 1934 - May 5, 2021

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Norman Podolski.
Norm grew up in the North End of Winnipeg, moving to East St. Paul after marriage to raise his family. He was a hard working man who spent many years employed with Otis Elevator. When he retired, he purchased Western Elevator and later developed a customer service consulting business. He was known for his integrity and his dedication to providing quality customer service. He was actively involved in Toastmasters and the Rotary Club of Winnipeg where he was highly respected and received awards of recognition for his contributions. He enjoyed travelling and he valued time spent with his family and close friends.
Norm will be missed by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Podolski, his children, Tracy Sparham, Lorri Podolski, Kim and her husband Peter Blair, and his grandchildren, Chris, Colleen, Scott, Ben, Cam, Taylor and Kennedi.
The family wishes to thank Don and Donna, Pat and Fred, Dennis and Judy and other close friends for their longstanding love, support and assistance.
In accordance with Norm's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
A donation may be made in Norman's memory to a charity of your choice.

Norm will always hold a special place
in our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • It has taken some time to be able to frame the words that express the loss of my dearest Uncle Norm as it has been one of the deepest blows to my heart and still takes my breath away. You have been there ever since I can remember for every birthday, Christmas and all of our family celebrations as our families grew up together. The memories from your house to our house are countless, to all of our Windego family trips together and Falcon Lake or even when you went looking for me when I ran away because I did not want to go to the dentist. You and Auntie Phyllis were simply always there, and an integral part of my life growing up whether filling it with laughter or pearls of wisdom with your arm wrapped around me. You will always hold a piece of my heart, and I am forever grateful for everything you brought into my life. Love you immensely now and forever Uncle Norm - Posted by: Wendy Eppler Conant (Close Family Friends) on: Jun 06, 2021

  • I am so sorry to hear about Mr Podolski’s passing, Norm, as he insisted I call him as an adult. I have a lot of very fond memories of him growing up. As kids, my sister and I spent so much time at your house on Hoddinott. He always had a smile for everyone and was genuinely one of the nicest men I’ve had the privilege of knowing. My sincere condolences - Posted by: Kelly Carr ( Hilderman) (Family friend ) on: May 23, 2021

  • I was sorry to learn of Norm's passing. We were long-time members of the Rotary Club of Winnipeg and more recently members of a small luncheon group we called the "Outer Wheel". Before the pandemic we met at DeLuca's restaurant above the store on Portage Avenue. I appreciated his friendship and enjoyed his company. Sincerest condolences to Norm's family. I will miss our conversations. - Posted by: Terry E. Cheater (friend from Rotary Club of Winnipeg) on: May 22, 2021

  • My deepest condolence to Tracy and your family. I still have fond memories when we did that science fair project on automation and your dad "helped" us build that miniature elevator to go along with our "robot." I remember him as a father that always wanted to help and support you and your sister in school and bowling. - Posted by: Rob Huebert (classmate of Tracy) on: May 22, 2021
