We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Gullen, Beverley Kulbaba (Jerald); son-in-law Dr. Gordan Kasian, her sister Pat Eppler, brother-in-law Jack Foot and her grandchildren, grandsons and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ed, daughter Sharon Kasian, son-in-law Fred Gullen, and brothers and sisters.
Mom loved to knit and many new babies went home with new sweater sets. All her grandchildren had a good supply of knitted hats, scarfs and mitts for the winter months. She had to give up knitting when arthritis took over her hands and reading became her new pastime.
In her early life, she was very involved in her church (Catholic Women's League) and was a devote Catholic until the end.
Mom loved her sweets. A meal wasn't complete without something sweet at the end. There was always a candy dish full of candy that was offered to all visitors and then of course there was always a few candies at the bottom of her purse. All the grandchildren knew that Gramma kept a special treat space in her cupboards for them when they came to visit.
During the last year Mom was hospitalized several times but she was adamant on going back home to her apartment where she remained until her death.
Due to Covid -19, a private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • So sorry for your loss. I really appreciated reading the other Condolences, as I never really had the Opportunity to meet my Mother's sisters.. We did exchange a few Christmas cards over the years.. Dolores (my mom) was 89 when she passed away. She sounds like a beautiful person. Wish I had had a chance to get to know her better. My heart goes out to all the family. - Posted by: Sherilyn Sanderson-Duteau (My Aunt) on: Jun 01, 2021

  • I grew up knowing Kim in our early years and knowing Grandma lived next door! So through the years of knowing her and getting to re know her as a Health Care Aide with a weekly visit! And yes was always offered a sweet of sorts which I noticed hadn't changed in all these years! It was so good to see her weekly for catch up of years gone by! Know that I am thinking of you all with Deepest Sympathies ! • Condolences to Lynne and family. Beverley and family and Dr Gordon Kasian and family. Mom and I are so very saddened by the passing of your Mom (Rita). My Mom (Frances Rasmusssen) and your Mom had been friends for over 60 years, Mom is deeply saddened. What we will remember about your Mom is her lovely smile, always looking like she had just stepped out of a Vogue magazine . A very lovely Lady who will be missed immensely. Mom and i will be thinking of your family may the Lord give you strength and guide your family through this sad time in your lives. - Posted by: Diannel Kruk (Friend) on: May 22, 2021
