TILLIE (TEKLA) FRANZ
Tillie was born in Meleb, to John Chobotiuk and Mary Zapotochny, sister to Nicholas, Steve and Rose. In her late teens she moved to Winnipeg in 1942 and worked at Peerless Laundry - packing clothes. She lived with sister Rose and lived on Cumberland Street.
In 1944 Tillie met and married Adam, her husband of 66 years, and they farmed on the Franz family homestead until they retired to Gimli in 1974. In 2004 ill health forced Adam to move to Red River Place in Selkirk, while Tillie moved to Winnipeg (2004). On December 7, 2007 she moved to Fred Douglas Lodge.
Adam predeceased Tillie in 2010. Tillie will be remembered for her garden, her flowers, her cooking and baking.
She is survived by her children, Ardene, Robert, Reverend Frank, Lorraine (John), Loretta, Vernon (Jayne), Arnold, Perry, Glen (Janice) and Debbie (Glen); also grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you to all staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for the excellent care.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com.
Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli

Father Frank, and families of Tillie. My sincere sympathy in your loss. Keep your mother's memories in your heart, and she will be with you always. God bless you all. Liz - Posted by: Elizabeth Csversko (Friend from Dauphin ) on: Jun 01, 2021
Tilly always welcomed me to her family with a beautiful smile. She would offer words of wisdom and a listening ear over a meal or tea. She was proud of her family and home. I think she was in charge of both and no small accompaniment with 10 in the family. She will always have a fond place in my memory. She had a Manitoba country way that I enjoyed. I am sure she will watch over the family forevermore. Donna - Posted by: Donna McDonald (Friend to family) on: May 29, 2021
