DARLENE WRIGHT

It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Darlene Wright (nee Trylinski) on April 28, 2021 at the age of 68.
Darlene is lovingly remembered and survived by her partner Darryl Kerney; her two children, Rory Wright (Caroline) and Lara Gannon (Sean); grandchildren, Sebastian and Nicholas Wright and siblings, Gerald Trylinski (Cheryl), Darrell Cabot and Marlene Cabot, as well as many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Chris Trylinksi and Liselotte Cabot.
Darlene was born in Winnipeg and along with her brother Gerald, was raised by her father Chris, in Transcona. She was well liked amongst her peers in school and made friends easily. She had many fond childhood memories of times spent with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Winnipeg and Cooks Creek, MB.
Darlene was a loving mother and grandmother and as a homemaker was devoted to raising her children. She volunteered countless hours over the years at the numerous school and extracurricular activities her children were involved in and was well known within the community and loved by the neighbourhood children. Her love of children extended beyond her immediate family and she welcomed and cared for many other children in her home.
She loved the outdoors and being active and would go for daily walks. She could often be seen pulling her children or grandsons in a wagon or toboggan to the local grocery store, park or library. As a nature and animal lover, Darlene spent time in more recent years at Birds Hill Park, enjoying sunsets, deer watching and bonfires.
Later in life, Darlene struggled with mental illness and was unable to enjoy life to the fullest or spend time with her family and friends, even though her love for them was still in her heart. Her beautiful smile and laughter live on in our memories.
Donations may be made in Darlene's memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Salvation Army, Siloam Mission, The Children's Hospital or another charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at a later date.

  • Darlene babysat our daughter Lynlee for close to four years. She really cared for Lynlee and was very instrumental in her development. As was the whole family. She stimulated Lynlee’s learning. She thrived under Darlene’s care. Taking her for swimming lessons, to the art gallery, helping her bake, etc. Her children, Rory and Lara would often be doing homework so Lynlee insisted on homework. She knew her alphabet at 18 months, print letters and read by three years of age. This was not by accident. Lynlee loved Darlene and her family. I quite suspect the feeling was mutual. I remember Darlene as an exceptionally kind, wonderful person, who was quick to laugh with absolute love for her kids. I’m sad to hear she struggled with mental health issues later in her life and deprived of the joy she so deserved. Please know that Darlene and her family are remembered fondly by the Wolstencroft family. Sincerely, Ted Wolstencroft - Posted by: Ted Wolstencroft (Friend of family) on: May 29, 2021
