SHIRLEY WIGINTON

The Winiarz and Wiginton family announces the peaceful passing of Shirley; Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Aunt.
Shirley was born in Flin Flon, MB on July 12, 1934 to Frank and Grace Wiginton, where she grew up alongside her brother Dennis Wiginton. Shirley retired after working many years with Service Canada and moved to the family cottage in Ponemah in 1993, where she cared for her mother Grace.
She enjoyed working at Say It with Ceramics in Winnipeg Beach and spent countless hours volunteering with the Lakeside Lions Club, making wonderful friendships. Her birthday BBQs at the cottage with her extended family, neighbours and friends were great fun. There was always lots of ice cream smothered with chocolate and sweetened condensed milk; and the toasted marshmallow competition.
Shirley's highlight was taking care of her great-grandchildren She had a love and compassion for all her furry friends. She was very creative and enjoyed ceramics. Over the years we have all been blessed with one or more of her creations.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in law, Maureen and Ed Winiarz; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Barb Wiginton; her grandchildren, Scott Winiarz, Shawna and Mike Colavito; her great-grandchildren, Saige and Chloe Winiarz, Francesco and Matteo Colavito; her nieces and nephews, Jeana and Matt Vasey and their children, Andrew and Laura; Lisa and Gavin Laird and their children, Garion, Rory, Elsa and Adaira; Frank and Diane Wiginton and their children, Victoria and Alana. Her loving extended families all called her Mom, Mom Two, Gramma, or Shirley. She loved us all.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents and her former husband and friend Homer Calder.
Special thanks to Dr. Darcy Johnson who cared for Shirley over the years and to Dr. Sarah Blelloch and the Gimli Hospital staff who supported her tenderly through her last days.
In accordance with Shirley's wishes, she has been cremated and there will be no service.
Donations in Shirley's memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, A Humane Society, or any Charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated.
