Condolences & Memories (2 entries)
On behalf of the Wishart family please accept our condolences on the loss of Gayle. We got to know Gayle, Russell and the rest of the Mann family as neighbours at our family cottage on Block 1 at Caddy Lake; we at Lot 5 and you at Lot 1. We share with Gayle our love of Caddy Lake and the beautiful Whiteshell Provincial Park. We enjoyed many summers of fun there during the sixties which became more difficult as most of our family moved to Montreal, Barrie and Vancouver. Finally travel and upkeep became too much and sadly our parents George and Mary sold in 1995. We appreciated the help Russell provided in bringing hydro across to Blk 1 and advising dad in hooking up our cottage; and many other matters over the years as we built our place. We loved the history and adventure of the Mann cottage, the first on the lake, the trail up to the spring and CPR line, Russell's Rock and Blueberry Hill above your cottage. It was a ritual to see Russell and Gayle come out each weekend with their young kids to work on and then stay in the boathouse so the old cottage could be rebuilt- a huge project! Despite that we were happy to see Russell get out fishing off the point most evenings and trolling the bay. We were envious of his fishing skills. We still get out to visit Caddy every few years to see the old place and honour mum and dad's ashes buried near our point after they passed away. One day we will scatter some of our sister Carol's ashes there too- she passed away in January, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. From Brenda and John in Vancouver and Rick in Winnipeg our thoughts and prayers are of Gayle and your family. - Posted by: Rick Wishart (Family friend) on: Jun 12, 2021
