KENNETH GLENN GIESBRECHT
March 6, 1962 - May 27, 2021
Left to cherish his memory is his dedicated and loving wife Kelly Giesbrecht (nee Berg and Hawrylyshen); daughters, Megan Giesbrecht and Brooke Giesbrecht (Jasper Arthur), with Frances Giesbrecht; stepsons, Derek Berg (Tara Lagimodiere) and Brandyn (Julie) Berg and their children, Liam and Caleb; mother Mary Giesbrecht (predeceased by his father Ben Giesbrecht, 2011); sisters, Joan (Rick) Watkins and Melody (Greg) Renton; nieces and nephews, Michael, Tianna, Dylan, Taylor, Cassandra, Alexandra, and Breanna. Ken will also be missed by many dear longtime friends.
The song "I Can Only Imagine" was Ken's favourite and he no longer has to imagine heaven. He was a devout Christian who lived to serve God and others until his final days on earth. Ken was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a compassionate friend. He had a special way of making everyone feel loved and important. This amazing man will be remembered for so many things, such as his ability to bring laughter into any difficult situation and spending a lot of his free time helping others.
Ken attended Grant Memorial Church and had a joy for serving through mission trips and sharing his faith with others. He enjoyed the beauty of nature and loved to travel to places such as Germany, Israel, Ecuador, Guatemala, the Caribbean, Mexico, and many other places across Canada and the United States. Over the last year, Ken took pleasure in walking along the Bois-des-Esprits and Seine River Greenway trails with family and friends. Ken worked passionately as a FedEx courier for over 30 years until his illness. Even when unable to work, he kept in touch with his co-workers, whom he considered as a second family.
A special thank you to the St. Boniface Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) for their great care and compassion in his final days.
In accordance with Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place (arrangements entrusted to Ethical Death Care) and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

Ken and I didn’t know each other a great deal, or for very long. Despite that, I will always remember him as a kind and virtuous individual who left a lasting impact on others. I had the fortune of being trained by him when I was hired at FedEx in 2017, and have tried to emulate his positive attitude and work ethic. Happy to have met you, Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Zack Kushnir (Colleague ) on: Nov 13, 2022

We pray for comfort and strength from God during these days, and in the future. - Posted by: Anne Giesbrecht and Shirley Penner (Aunt and cousin) on: Jun 09, 2021

Ken was always a great guy to be around to share a story and a few laughs in the morning before heading out for a busy day. Having worked together with so many of us for over thirty years Ken’s passing has left a big hole in our FedEx family. My sympathy to the family. RIP Ken. - Posted by: Dave Lavallee (FedEx coworker ) on: May 31, 2021

Ken and I worked together at Fed-Ex from 2016-2017 and spent most of our time together on Saturdays. Ken has played a substantial role in my growth both as an individual and in my career. His mentorship and friendship are invaluable gifts that I was fortunate enough to receive. Ken opened my eyes to new stages of opportunity and learning, and taught me how to embrace change. Looking back, I would not have gotten where I am today if it were not for Ken. I have no doubt that there are similar stories where I know Ken has inspired and motivated others. “An offering from a sage and a king is more than silver and gold, it is a seed of hope, and a bud of faith… now let he who has watered, be watered.” Rest In Peace my mentor, co-worker, and most importantly, my friend. - Posted by: Brad Go (Former Co-worker at Federal Express) on: May 31, 2021

Ken lived his live the right way. He was a man with a strong work ethic but even more so, strong character. He went out of his way to help others no matter what the problem may have been and asked for nothing in return. His willingness to help others and his selfless acts did not go un-noticed by the many people he came in contact with including his friends, customers and co-workers. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ken's family at this time. Rest In Peace Ken, you will be missed. - Posted by: Rob Barr (Friend - Co- Worker - FedEx) on: May 31, 2021

It was a pleasure to work with Ken. He was always kind with a quiet wisdom and a listening ear. He always listened more than he spoke but when he did he spoke with pride and joy about his family and the time he spent with them, including Movie Nights which were a highlight of his week. He will be missed at work and may his family and friends' fond memories ease them through their time of loss. - Posted by: Julie Stewart (Fedex Coworker) on: May 30, 2021
