Uncle Ken was a big brother to me. He lived with my Mum; Mary Courchene (sister) and my younger siblings in the summer months. He had to continue his schooling in WPG. Assinboine High School along with other kids from Sagkeeng First Nation. We all loved him. He brought back the ceremonial traditions of our community & he was a true humble man. His tribute is a testimony to our beliefs and his legacy! Love is the key to a good life! Chii Miigwech, Elaine M. Isaac Niece - Posted by: Elaine M. Isaac (Niece ) on: Jan 09, 2022

He was an elder's elder and possessed such humour and wisdom. He touched the lives of all he met while he walked his gentle path after surviving the traumas of residential school. He was one of the last great old ones who helped return ceremony to our community and helped us reclaim our cultural and spiritual identity. We are all greatly impoverished by his passing but we will honour and celebrate him always. His work here is done and we will continue it for him for he has now returned to his Rose and returned to Spirit. Rest easy Uncle, we all love you and look forward to seeing you again soon. Chee Miigwech for the gifts, blessings and teachings you bestowed upon your friends, family and community. - Posted by: Ethan Courchene (Nephew) on: Jul 25, 2021

Heartfelt condolences to Ken’s family — may Creator lift your spirits! I will always remember and carry Ken’s words of advice to me regarding my grandson Gianni (Fox) regarding a serious ailment of his. Ken remarked to always view Fox’s future path with positivity and goodness and life! Powerful!!! Ken was so kind to me. He sensed I was spiritually empty and missing something significant from my life, so he welcomed me into his ceremony circle. He offered guidance, encouragement, and knowledge freely. It is because of his kind generosity that I now who I am and where I come from. Dear Ken, kitchi miigwech for all you have given me. I will always remember you with respect and love. Giigaa waabaamin. - Posted by: Lisa Aymont Hunter (friend (relative)) on: Jun 02, 2021
