BRUCE GILLAN ALEXANDER
Born: Winnipeg, March 2, 1936
Died: Whitehorse, May 28, 2021

Bruce Gillan died peacefully in his sleep in his 85th year at Whitehorse, Yukon.
Survived by his 'One and Onely' beloved wife Morgan Alexander, second wife Alison Oates, and brother Hutton. Predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Adam Alexander, first wife Roberta McCulloch, eldest daughter Shelagh, and sister Bettye Ann. He was gifted with six children: Shelagh, Robert (Beki), Barbara (Steven), Sharon, Faye (Corey) and Laura; three grandchildren, Lauren, Jordan and Huckleberry, and great-granddaughter Emilia. With his marriage to Morgan, he added another child, Sarah Wainman (Nathan).
Brevity is the soul of wit, he often said. A storyteller at heart, Dad lived a life of extraordinary adventure. Hailing from Winnipeg, family and career brought him to Vancouver, Montreal, Nova Scotia, and with Morgan, first to Kuujjuaq in Nunavik, and then to his final frontier, the Yukon. He travelled the world - USA, Mexico, Ecuador, Japan and more recently Scotland, the birthplace of his ancestry, as well as England, France, and Central Europe. A man of commanding presence, he faced down endless reversals and forged on, humour and curiosity in tact. Dad embraced life until the very end and his legacy lives on.
Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  • Bruce [Butch] and I played together on Baltimore Rd. before we started school. Went to school together between Riverview and Lord Roberts. Lost track of him after High School. Saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: George Glenday (Schoolmate) on: Jun 06, 2021

  • Sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. He was a good friend through out our younger years in Winnipeg. Lots of teenage adventures. Many good memories. Kept in touch with him as he lived in different areas of Canada. My condolences to his family. A life well lived on his terms. Harley Hansen - Posted by: harley hansen (freind) on: Jun 05, 2021
