ELIZABETH (BETTY) ETHEL TODD
Betty was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Todd, her parents, George and Elizabeth Cumbers, her sister Dorothy Cumbers, brother-in-law Alex Todd and sister-in-law Betty Todd.
Betty is survived by her daughter Dorothy Todd Neufeld and her family, son-in-law Bruce Neufeld and grandsons, George, Isaac and Cameron, as well as her nephew in Scotland, Alex Todd.
Betty was born and raised in Winnipeg and except for a ten-year sojourn in New York City, lived there her entire life. Betty had many talents, which she shared with the world, but her first love was her family and making a home for them. The highlight of Betty's working life was her job with Pan-Am World Airways as a public relations specialist in New York. During those years, she was able to travel the world and enjoyed the company of her sister Dorothy on her many journeys. Betty returned to Winnipeg and found the love of her life, John Todd, who had recently immigrated to Canada from Scotland. Soon they were married and had their only child, Dorothy Lynn. Betty continued to find many ways to keep active outside the home as well, including teaching home economics and sewing, becoming an on-air advice columnist and bookkeeping for a flower shop.
Betty had many friends, but her inner circle of lifelong friends, who called themselves "the gab club" was particularly special to her. She also treasured her friendship with fellow Bethania resident Maria and calls from Mary Hanley of White Plains, New York. Betty was a lifelong and active member of the St. James Presbyterian Church. The family would like to give special thanks to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for their loving and attentive care.
A Celebration of Life service is pending.
In Betty's memory, donations may be made to Bethania Mennonite Memorial Foundation, 1045 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2K 3S7.
