GORDON OLAFSON
1950 2021
Gordon will be greatly missed by his wife, Marion; brothers-in-law, Ron (Jeanne) Zimmer, Don (Elaine) Zimmer and Bruce (Laurie) Zimmer; sister-in-law Janet (Fred) Johnson, and all his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gordon was predeceased by his mother Eleanor Olafson; grandmother Emily Kennedy, and cousin Edward (Linda) Gregory.
Gord grew up on Wolseley Avenue in Winnipeg and attended Tec-Voc high school where he graduated in 1968. He then worked for the Aircraft industry for several years before returning to Red River College to study for a degree in Horology. Gord was very proud of the almost 40 years he worked for Boeing, where he earned many Excellence awards and accolades for his skills. He had many friends from his days of working. Gord loved to golf, work at his many hobbies (which included a keen interest in cars) and spend time with his family. He enjoyed our travels and adventures which included many trips to Alberta, B.C. and California. Being able to take a trip to England and Scotland was the highlight of our life. He retired in 2015 and enjoyed using his many skills and abilities to remodel our home in St. Andrew's. Gord was a true and meticulous handyman and could fix, repair or rebuild anything that needed it and was always willing to help family and friends with their projects. Anyone who knew Gord, knew of his love for our numerous cats and dogs that we lived with in the last 50 years.
A celebration of Gordon's life will be held when it is safe to gather. His ashes will be interred at Little Britain Untied Church Columbarium near Lockport, Manitoba.
Donations in his honour can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

I am deeply saddened about Gordie's passing. I worked with, golfed and even had some occasional beers with Gord for his entire career at Boeing. He was in the same department as I was and we interacted professionally on a regular basis. My wife Susan and I would like to offer our deepest condolences to Marion and Gord's entire family. Rest in peace Gordie. - Posted by: Bob Peleck (Work friend) on: Jun 12, 2021
